I thought the purpose of this discussion was to share info about a particular problem -- this one being a draining battery. I don't expect to be humiliated in the process. Your link is as of 1/4/12 which is great. All of my research was from 2011, such as http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2011/05/extend-your-iphones-battery-life-by-quittin g-apps/

I understand that some techs are more knowledgeable than others. Obviously you are one. Hopefully, you will be willing to share in a more amiable way.

If you expect not to be responded to with a bit of irritation, you should try reading the thread you're responding to, and not making the same incorrect statement that others have already made (and been corrected about) before you. Nothing about the information in the article I referred you to is new. "Quitting" all apps showing in the multitasking bar is not a reasonable solution to battery life issues, as has been said multiple times already.

Wow......... I think you're right! Mr. Reed, is rude!

Moreover, it's my direct experience that keeping many apps running in the background (I had at least 50 going, with multiple instances, and several of them GPS apps, following me all over town) kills battery life. When my friend turned me on to this I went from barely one day's worth of battery to two days solid. Hmmmmm.

Thomas my old friend, still pretending apple issues don't exist because they never happened to you or you cant comprehend the user experience

Perhaps you didn't notice that this topic started in 2011, and my last response here was in 2012. There have been a LOT of changes to iOS in that time. Although there's certainly still no need to go closing all apps, and really no easy way to tell if an app is actually running or just cached, there are additional variables in the equation today, such as the increased amount of multitasking going on.

You'd be better off starting your own topic at this point if you're actually interested in solving some real-world problem.
