Touch screen is not responding properly

My iphone just started acting crazy today and I have reset it a couple of times and still the problem persists. It's as if the touch signals that are sent to the phone have nothing to do with what I'm actually doing. For example at times it can be impossible to power off or close applications. I may touch the dead center of the screen and the phone may be behave as though I touched an upper right or lower left corner. Sometimes the interface is also sluggish...

What can I do short of restoring the whole phone?

Are there any iPhone viruses? I'd say it's behaving as though there is a virus!

Hi,

I just bought a Second Hand Iphone 4S, and i was experiencing the above issue mentioned by @brsm1990, and as i was reading i cam accros this thred. After reading i thought that i was screwed, but then i read the part about the charger. Looked at my phone and saw that it was using the cheap charger it came with. Disconected the phone and a miracle happend 🙂 It works !

I will never use a cheap charger again.

Thank you guys, you saved me a trip to an Apple Service Store (not even sure i have that in my country).

I saw this when I had this problem...tried it and so far it has worked.

Step 2: Reset the iPhone

In rare occasions your iPhone touch-screen may not respond to the above restart process. In such a case, it may be necessary to reset your iPhone which means the phone will be forced to shut down without going through the usual process. To reset your device press and hold both the Sleep/Wake (On/Off) and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until the screen turns off and then turns back on again and displays the Apple logo. Release both the buttons and the phone should be working again like it should.. No data will be lost from your device for this reset.

Some iPhone users could resolve the issue by going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.

A user from this forum solved my problem today 8/10/2015. It too was the after market, older charger I was plugging my new charging cable into - the charger actually said + or - 5% ON THE MILLI AMPS OF OUTPUT. I notice the apple charger does not - tossing my cheaper charger and sticking with Apple charger. PROBLEM SOLVED - no more funky screen response.
