iPad Wifi Connection Keeps Dropping & Suggesting Others... :'(

Like a child who can't make up his/her mind in a sweety shop, my iPad 2 keeps dropping my home wifi network and giving me the list of other, close-by wifi networks.

WHY????? I feel betrayed... I have to keep selecting my network from the list, from which I connect quite quickly. It seems to happen when my signal is lowest. ...Typical, dropping my network at the slightest sniff of another!!

Any way of telling-off/instructing my iPad to ensure it sticks with my network and forgets the rest? I have tried "forget this network" with 'the others' but it hasn't worked...

P.S. My iPad is Wifi only...

Same problem appeared here yesterday on iPad2 - wifi drops and if the lease is renewed it will only stay connected for a minute or two. No other wifi device in the house (smart phone w/ wifi, Color Nook, Windows laptop, tv w/ wifi) are affected. Logically, this isolates the problem to the iPad. Turning off bluetooth, 'ask to join other networks' does nothing. Was there some recent O/S system update that was made? Seems most likely that this is a software issue since the iPad has worked fine for some months previously and the routervis working fine for there devices and has had no updates or changes.

I have to agree with Ralph that it's a IPAD or Apple software update problem. This only start happening to me about two weeks ago(April 12, 2012) when I did a full reset on my Ipad2. When resetting through ITunes one of the options to restore is either through backup, or set up new IPAD, and I choose to set an entirely new IPAD so everything would be fresh and new, this is when I started to experience the WiFi dropping the network connections. My connections were great prior to April 12, 2012, even with bluetooth activated all the time having bluetooth keyboard and bluetooth headset and playing DirectTV, I had never lost connections and I've had my IPAD2 for about a year now. So I'm thinking I'm going to restore from old backup and see if the WiFi connections continue to drop.

Thanks, I knew If I research the problem, I would find others having the same issue.

I have had the same issue with my iPad2 for a few weeks now. My WIFI connection will drop for a while and then prompt me with the wireless connections available including the one that just dropped. I only have one connection saved at this location and the access point is less than 15 feet away.

No other device onmy network drops the connection, including my girlfriend's iPad2 which does not have the latest IOS update.

What gives with 5.1 on the iPad2 and WIFI?

I realize that you said you tried using a different channel on your router and it didn't help but I was having the same problem, tried EVERYTHING listed in these replies and finally called tech support for my router, which happened to be d-link. Anyway they felt sure it was a channel issue - I tried channel 5 and the signal held for maybe half an hour but still dropped so I tried channel 3 and it's been several hours now with no trouble. I'm cautiously optimistic...

Hi, all my WIFI clients worked perfectly. But when I first tried to connect my IPAD 3 (64Gb/Wifi/4G) the wifi connection failed after 30 sec. sometimes 2 minutes. I tried all tips I found on inet, but nothing worked. I had the Ipad sent back to Apple, but they could not reproduce the problem.

When I got it back, I looked into the wifi router. I tried some adaptions found on inet but no result.

At last I tried to disable 802.11n mode, so wifi connects through g now. Since I changed this it works perfect !

No more problems. The network connection is as fast as before, but now steady connection.

If you have the same issue, just trie it, it may help you as well !

I had the same problem with all the newer iPads in my house. After trying everything in these forums I had no joy until I accidentally stumbled on the cause of the problem. The wireless network in my hose has two network extenders (the type that plug into an electrical sockets). In order to get a controlled environment with my router, I unplugged them. Guess what happened? As soon as I did that, the problem disappeared and all is well. I have no technical explanation but they were obviously the source of the grief with the iPads.

Not sure if this will help anyone else but just in case....
