Download from iCloud button Greyed out

I'd suggest turning off iTunes match (under the store menue), then turning it on. You may be prompted for your Apple ID again. When you turn it back on, it should go through the process of scanning your library again. If that doesn't work, I'd quit and relaunch iTunes.

I had this problem, and what solved it was to go to the "Purchased" area on the left sidebar under the "Store" category... then select "Download Previous Purchases," and navigate to the song(s) you wish to download and hit that download button.

I found that items that had an error (for me err code 3353) while downloading had the greyed out download button after restarting itunes. So, I did the above and all downloaded fine this time around.

I can confirm that signing out of my account in iTunes, then signing back in, reenabling iTunes Match, and having it do a full scan again resolved this issue for me.

@wfastenow thank you so much for this post! I was struggling to figure out why songs that I had previously purchased were appearing in my library, but I couldn't download, play or interact with them at all. As it turns out, these were all songs I had downloaded from other computers. Had no idea! This helped tremendously!

I realize this is an old thread, but my problem is identical. I've ripped several CDs into my iTunes library - CDs that ARE available for purchase in iTunes. All of the songs from the ripped CDs have the iCloud symbol next to them. Most of them play just fine, and I can download and play them on all my devices from iCloud. Other random songs, and in two cases entire albums, cannot be played at all (except on the laptop I originally burned them to). The iClould symbol on these songs appears but is "grayed out." What can I do?
