Adobe has shown their hand by going to an all subscription service for either their entire suite of app's, or for individual "professional" app's (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.). They've also let the cat out of the bag that there's the possibility that the Creative Cloud version of Lightroom will get certain upgrades and enhancements that the retail version won't.
Adobe has received a well deserved beating because of their decision. Their announcement took everyone by surprise, and landed like a turd. Simply stated, for someone that only uses a single app, their pricing structure has no incentive for current users to buy into it.
As much as I think Aperture's organization leaves LR's Library module in the dust, LR's Develop module does a much better job. LR5 offers only a few enhancements (most of them really should have been included in LR4 or added as a dot upgrade).
We'll have to wait and see if Apple announces any major updates to their software at WWDC. They've definitely bee adding new software engineers to the iWork/iLife/Aperture units. It'd definitely be nice to hear something. I'll make my decision as to which one to use (LR5 or Aperture) after the WWDC keynote.
