iCloud icon animated in iTunes

Can anyone explain what the different appearances of the iCloud icon mean? Right now the cloud icon has animated diagonal lines running through it (this has been going on for awhile). Not sure if it means it's uploading songs I recently purchased from Amazon Cloud and/or iTunes Store. My iPhone is not connected via cable and has not been ejected.

I'm having the same issue with the animated cloud symbol. I got my new iMac two days ago and iTunes worked perfectly. But today that symbol appeared, and any songs in the cloud that havent been downloaded cant be played. They show up in the list but are greyed out with a cloud with a downward arrow next to them.

Come to think of it, when i started up this morning i held command, option, P and R when powering up to take care of an issue with the two finger swipe in safari. Im not sure if that has anything to do with it, but thats the only thing i can think of that has changed since yesterday. Ill try rebooting...
