Why does ipad ICal crash when I look up dates in March 2013?
iPad, iOS 5.0.1
Yes mine also crashes ... In month view I select the year 2013 at bottom right of screen then I select March and the app just crashes ... I assume that it is a 'bug' in the software?
Happy New Year
I have reported the issue to apple at http://www.apple.com/feedback
I have the same problem.... but only in monthview in weekview everything ok
Holy cow, does that means it's the end of the world? We're doomed! 🙂
That being said, I have the exact same problem!
Same here! Any news?
Same problem. However I try to access the mythical month of March 2013, it crashes every time on iPad. I've followed KGriff in posting the bug on feedback. The crashing is native to iPad only in my experience, I can see the same month on iMac or iPod Touch just fine.
Happens to me on ipad3 too. I just went to enter an appointment, amazed to find this problem. Weird.
Sadly, the ipad calendar bug, still occurs when in MONTH view.
Simply selecting the year 2013 at the bottom of the calendar screen and then selecting the month of March from the available line of months causes the app to crash out. I am using iPad v1.
I did report this to apple shortly after the release of iOS 5.01 but it is still not fixed in iOS 5.1 - perhaps it is something to do with the UK locale and not happening in USA. Just wondering if any others inside/outside the UK have come across this bug?
Perhaps the developers have it on the to-do list or as March is accessible via other means this is not a priority for them.
It's definitely not location-related. I have the exact same problem. 5.1 fixed it for a while but it's back again and no solution has been announced, tht I know of.
Same behaviuor here (Germany) at two iPads 2, OS 5.1. I was able to verify the behaviour as follows:
1. It crashes March 2013, but only in the month view
2. The crashes happen
a) when linking to an iCloud calendar of my partner by my "iPad 1" (only one of the two causes the crash, no entries there)
b) when linking to the same calendar by my partners "iPad 2" (where it has been set up, i.e. it is the "original" iCloud where it is being saved)
b) when linking to a web based calendar containing German Public holidays (tried two, each of them causes a crash)
iPad settings: all setting for Germany
@ APPLE support (if reading this post):
If you would like to verify the behaviour, below are the web based addresses of the calendars resulting in a crash:
www.ecoline-kalender.de/ics/nordrhein-westfalen_gf.ics
www.ifeiertage.de/nw-z.ics
Linking these calendars somwhere else (e.g. google calendar) does not cause any problems nor does it show any unusual entries. There is definitely a problem with the app.
I have discovered the problem...after hours of looking through the iPad calendar, I realised that the clocks go back an hour on 1st April 2013. This messes with the iPad's brain and so to solve the problem, just change any event you have on 1st April 2013 from all day to a specified time period. Then the problem should disappear.
Amazing - you r correct. Apple should fix this, but meanwhile this works. Thanks!
Genius! Apply for your new job as an Apple Technician today. Thanks much appreciated! I thought the problem was something to do with leap years, how wrong I was.
Sorry, did not work on my iPad
I use the app "aCal".....no issues with dates that far out, I can go way past that. I have anniversaries, birthdays ect that show up and I can edit with no issues.
