I can't delete an album on my iPhone 4

Anyone know how to delete albums that were synced from my computer?

I have deleted them before, so know it's possible, but for some reason, since the iOS5 upgrade, it's been made nigh on impossible. What am I doing wrong? I've followed everyone's advice in the support groups, but it's just not happening for me.....

Help? 😀

I am having the same problem. I do not understand the solution. Did you do it using your computer or just the phone? After I select the photo album that I want to delete, how do I "revert" and then "apply"? This is incredibly frustrating! Please help!

^agree.

I have had trouble with 2 extra albums on my phone for a while now. They are not synced from my computer so that does not work. And they also do not have a red circle by them when I choose edit. They are like permanently stuck on my phone, they aren't like any normal albums and they're taking up too much space!

(0) Create an empty folder

(1) connect iphone to computer and launch iTune

(2) in the photos tab, check "sync photos from", select "choose folder", select the empty folder in step 0).

(3) Click Sync

(4) iTune will show an warning that photos on the iphone will be replaced with this new library but pictures taken by phone won't be affected.

(5) When syncing is done, those zombie albums will be gone.

(6) in iTune uncheck " sync photos from folder", and sync again.

Ok I read all comments and the one posted by Peter Chaung is the closest but not very clear. Let me give you the complete step by step instructions.

1. Connect your iPhone to your mac which has had previosly synced with in iTunes.

2.Open up iPhoto and import all photos from your iphone by selecting your phone from the list on the right.

3.Once all photoes have been imported, create a new Album in iPhoto and call it what ever you like.Make sure this album is empty. YOU MUST CREATE THIS ALBUM OR IT WONT WORK!!!

4.Now open up itunes and select your iPhone from the list on the right hand side.

5. Go to the photoes tab at the top and un-select "All photoes, Albums, Events and Faces" and select "Selected Albums Events and Faces and Automatically include No events"

6.In the windows below make sure NOTHING is selected accept the newly created album with nothing in it.

7.NOw click on "Sync" in the bottom right of the screen.

You should see all your photoes removed including the Albums which you were unable to remove from your phone. DONT PANIC.

You have backed up all your photes in iPhoto, so you have 2 options. 1.. drop any photoes you want back on your phone in the Photo stream folder on the right hand side of iPhoto and they will automatically be in photo stream on your iphone or. 2.. Drop any photoes you want back into the new created album in iPhotoes then re-sync in itunes for the photoes to upload to your phone.

It's pretty simple once you grasp the consept of what ever you do in iPhoto automaically updates in itunes and then itunes dictates what appears on your phone when you sync with it.

Its obviously a glitch that Apple has not addressed properly with the latest ios update but I have researched this to the fullest extent and this is a full proof method.

Hope this helps...

Thanks to everyone. I have found a very simple solution to this.

Go to iTunes

Select your device. In my case it was Claire's iPhone

Select the photos tab

Find the original folder that this album was taken from and select

Un-tick the box to the left.

Pop up box will ask if you want to delete the album/photos. Click yes.

Job done.

All this time and that's how simple it was! I've only just done this! 😀

I am rely sorry to hear that you have lost all your photos but in my post I did write in step 2. Open up iPhoto and import all photos from your iPhone by selecting your iPhone in the list on the left.

Step 3 says.Once all photos have been imported, Then create a new album.

It is important you import all your photos first or you will lose all your photos that were in that album. By creating a new album you are essentially over writing you old album with an empty one.

Please follow all steps as stated above. I have just tested it and it works fine. If you are still having trouble then its not with the tutorial, there must be a step or something you are missing.

There is another option of course! just restore your device if you want to get rid of an album. But if you do this option please make sure you have all your photos saved onto your computer other wise you will lose them.

I'm not quite sure why you don't have the option to deselect and sync. are you using PC or Mac? what operating system? what is your devices IOS? When was the last time you did a backup of the device?

Please give as much information as possible so we can remedy your problem.

Thanks
