Music played on iPhone uses cellular data

Hello,

Noticed recently that when I now listen to music on my iphone it gives a signal in the top left corner that seems to tell me that the phone is connected to my network and is using data. Is this usual as I dont seem to remember it happening before I signed up for icloud. Any ideas. Thanks for any answers.

Put your phone into Airplane mode and play your music. If it plays then it is downloaded music and definitely is not consuming data. If it doesn't play then you are streaming music and using data (unless via wifi).

The playing of music which has been downloaded and is stored on the phone definitely does not consume data.

One other thought - this is definitely a message about data and not storage? If your phone is very full of content you would get regular messages that the phone is nearly out of storage space.

After doing some research online last night I actually tried what you suggested and the music did play. The texts I am getting are alerts about my data and not my storage on the phone. My data is what continues to creep up everytime I listen to my downloaded music during my walks. Can I just put my phone into airplane mode and this will not count against my data??

I know that the storage counts toward what apps, pics, texts, etc you have on the phone. This isn't the issue I am experiencing at all.I really appreciate everything you have done 🙂
