Change Apple Support User Name
Does anyone know how to change my Apple Support user name in Apple Support Communities?
Does anyone know how to change my Apple Support user name in Apple Support Communities?
i suppose you could call AppleCare and voice your wish to be able to change your username here, or you could use one of the product feedback forms at apple.com/feedback and just say, "this isn't actually about the Mac Pro, but you don't provide a feedback form for Apple Support Forums, so i'm writing it here; please forward this to whomever may be able to take action on it," or words to that effect.
sometimes you have to creatively work around bureaucratically-imposed limitations. 😉
I tried that, but there is literally no team or department to forward me to! Amazing. I went the feedback form route. We'll see what happens.
oh yeah, i didn't figure there would be; i'd just tell the AppleCare rep what you want Apple to know and ask them to forward it to...whomever. but i've also read the reps have very limited capabilities by design, and i don't know for a fact that they'd even be able to communicate anything to Apple that way. it's a nice thought, though.
i'd like the feedback form approach to work - i think i may have used that one myself for this issue - but i wouldn't hold my breath.
The more people who mention it, the better. 2 people might equal 2,000 people statistically speaking: considering total population and sample size.
Did you have any luck?
I'd like to do the same - would you let me know who you contacted as I'd like to follow it up as well.
I can't believe you have to lose your whole account just to make a minor change in a username.
Hi,
Niel's answer may not be the one you want to hear or see but it does succinctly give you the answer you are looking for.
Users cannot change their own Posting name here at Apple Support Communities under the current software used to run the Boards.
In rare cases it has been know that the Hosts have intervened (this fall inside their criteria which we can only guess at, but seems to be linked to Privacy and Cyberstalking or harassment).

Hi all,
If you have no or a low number of points picked up from Helpful/Solved answers it is proably easier to create a new Apple ID and create new Posting Name for that account.

No, not yet. I submitted a feedback suggestion. We'll see what happens. I encourage you to do the same. It'll take 5 minutes, and it'll help to relieve a little frustration...but only a little.
cyberstalk, please. just get rid of this name the board gave me & let me pick something. sheesh.
😕
On registering your Apple ID as an login ID here at Apple Support Communities you would have come across this page
It is true that at one stage they were somewhat "prefilled" with a suggestion that was in the same format as the one you post with. (someonefrom....)
From the other thread you added to.

You have to create new Apple ID and from there a new Alias/Posting Name or Username as the Page calls it.

Hi Richard, I rather like, " richardfromrocky river " even if it is grammatically incorrect and improperly capitialised...
I too made a mistake and now have to live with " Simin in Easton ", which is not my usual user name at all - it should read " Simon in Easton ". I have no indea how it got like it is - I must have taken my eye off the ball when I typed it. I can tell you though Richard that you will get used to your existing user name, sooner or later. Take it from me, it can be done. 😉
I'm catching your sarcasm. Thanks for your thoughts. I will not get used to this, as it is different from all other forums in which I participate across the Internet. In true Apple form, this forum needs to be completely reconstructed from the ground, up...reinvented if you will. Give my account a unique ID, and let my user name be whatever I want, whenever I want like all the rest, even Facebook.
I have to come clean, Richard - I still find it annoying that I can't change my user name, too!! Guess we're both stuck with what we've got!!
As it has been pointed out, you do not have any points accumulated, so you could very easily create a new account here with a different user name - you wouldn't lose anything.
True, but I cannot connect the user name to my current Apple ID. I would have to create a new Apple ID, and with all of the purchases I have made and my linked iCloud account, I'm not about to do that.
