can i play bbc iplayer through apple tv?

You can also get the airplay icon by double tapping home in the lock screen, by the way try to actually start something playing first in iplayer and then switch it to the apple tv

Does this work only for iPhone, iPod, iPad? I don't have any of these and would like to stream BBC iPlayer content (downloaded) from my iMac. Any chance of doing this if I buy an Apple TV?

They are referring to the iplayer app. If you want to stream from your Imac the content must reside in iTunes.

Just thought I'd throw this into the pot...

I found the actual App to be a real pain to use and so have resorted back to using the BBC iPlayer website, which I've added to the home screen. It is responsively designed, so looks great on the phone, and is much easier to navigate. It also taps into the phones default media playing functionality so the Airplay features work perfectly.
