A little while ago the digitizer broke on my 4s so I got a kit to replace that and the screen. I replaced it successfully but in doing so I snapped the ribbon cable to the power button. Everything worked fine except I couldn't lock the screen and I had to plug it in to charge it, so I ordered a replacement part. I replaced that yesterday, and now my phone wont turn on at all even when I try to charge it. I've tried everything. I wonder if I broke something inside the phone while replacing the ribbon cable? Rebooting it won't work, and when I plug it in, every 10 seconds or so it makes a noise like when you just plug it in. When I switch the phone to vibrate, it vibrates instead of making that noise, so at least that works. I did notice a battery acid smell when I opened it up the second time, but even if the battery was bad the charging cable should connect to the logic board and it should at least work when it's plugged in. There's a chance the logic board might be broken because I tried to take it out this time before removing the sim card and I was a little rough with it when I was trying to take it out, but it didn't seem broken. I really hope I don't have to get a new phone because I'm just trying to get this one to last until the 6s comes out, and I don't want to lose all my contacts (I backed up my pictures so those will be fine). Any idea what's wrong with it exactly?

OMG THANK U SO MUCH I THOUGHT MY IPHONE DIED but your tip worked i was counting 1-20 so fast i couldnt wait for the logo to just pop up and it did!!!... what i want to know is why wouldnt it start up in the first place... and what i can do to avoid it from happening again... 😮😟😢

The procedure reboots the phone. iOS crashed, the same way a Windows computer can crash, or a Mac, or even Linux (or even an IBM mainframe). So when it happens you reboot the phone. It will happen occasionally. If it happens frequently your phone may have either corrupt firmware or may have a hardware problem. To reduce the chance of it happening randomly, turn off the phone once a week or so - hold the SLEEP/WAKE button until "Slide to power off" appears, and do it. Wait about a minute, and turn it back on by holding the SLEEP/WAKE button.

If it happens very frequently take the phone to an Apple store to be tested.
