I am not even on LinkedIn, and yet I received two strange messages yesterday and today. One message says for me to stop sending spam messages for my business. As I said, I am not even a member of LinkedIn. Do you suppose someone I know, who has my email, has been affected by malware, and their contacts are being used fictiously? How do I make this stop?

Hi, Yes I've received a similar e-mail today and previously 2 others last week. These are spam e-mails designed to get you to follow a link to a fraudulent site that can load malware onto your machine in order to steal bank IDs and passwords. Don't click on any link in the e-mail just delete it straight away.

Well, part of the problem is that, for the most part, these are legitimate e-mails originating at linkedin (although they do make it appear to come from the member that "invited" you. What happens is that a LinkedIn member authorizes LinkedIn to access their contact list and send out these invitations. The member may not realize they are doing this, but they do have to enter their e-mail password to activate it.
It is SO OBVIOUS....and I get spam ONLY from my apple mail...NEVER from Gmail....
And most of my spam comes to the aol account I have not used in probably 20 years, next would be Gmail and then my dot mac account, but the latter is where see these LinkedIn messages, many of which are now coming from e-mail lists I subscribe to.
I should have known better than to ask "why...." There are alway miriad reasons why Apple fails to do the job we've paid them high prices for....no more for me....
In the last week I have been getting an inordinate amount of spam coming from mac.com. Has Apple relinquished that address? Also, another source of recent spam is the address .<@>

Most probably it's not actually coming from mac.com (which Apple still owns) as most spam has forged "From:" headers. You need to submit ths spam to someone like SpamCop to figure out where it actually originates.

I've used Mac Mail since the first OSX and the spam filter isn't that robust. Recently, I installed SpamSieve to work with Mail. It cut my spam by 98%. Then a few day ago all this mac.com spam starting getting through the sieve. I kinda figure it has something to do with the fact I have a .me account so it's seeing .mac as friendly.
The sieve is in training so eventually it will take care of it.

Lately I too have been having a similar issue with spam being directed to my full name at my .mac email address. Some originate from a .mac address but others don't. I too use Mac Mail and I agree the filtering is poor. I will try Spam Sieve and Spam Cop. Thanks.
I only tried SS and it works seamlessly with Mail. Its a plugin and the only way you know it's there is by viewing your Message menu and an additional folder in On My Mac called Spam. It was highly recommended by one of the Mac Tech sites.

I read your article (Re: icloud on snow leopard) in relation to Apple and the issues about being bullied by Lion. I have just spent a consideral amount of investment in inventing a low cost, retro type Apple entertainment system based on the late eMacs, the Classic Dome Airport routers, and the early Airport Express Routers.
I have hundreds, and am ready to intergrate into the greater architecture I have designed (In Kuala Lumpar)
I suppose, my question is I'm interested to get you an early prototype system.

Its hard to find any one who would be interested in re-inventing a complete system, as it was in 2002-2005, and beating apple at their own game. This would involve finding the sweet spot in firmware and operating systems, then locking it down indefinately in a limited music distribution system.
