WindowShade not working on 10.6

I have 2 laptops with registered copies of WindowShade (from Unsanity). The older MacBook Pro has Snow Leopard and runs WindowShade just fine. I just updated a newer MacBook Pro to Snow Leopard and installed WS and it won't work at all. It IS enabled and my Appearance system preference has the correct setting checked, per the Read Me file for WS.

I have logged out and back in, no go; I've restarted the laptop, no go. Application Enhancer says it is fully updated. Why would it work on one laptop, but not the other, when they're both running the same OS with the same settings?

I truly miss the ability to use WindowShade! Any advice? Thanks very much!

Hello my friend!

Today I faced the same problem as you...and I am also running Snow Leopard, which several posters failed ot notice.

What I did to resolve it was this:

- downloaded Application Enhancer 2.6.1 (you can't get it from Unsanity anymore--they appear to have gone out of business, or are going out of business--but you can get it from the wonderful cnet.com at http://download.cnet.com/Application-Enhancer/3000-18487_4-10144735.html

- uninstalled my current Application Enhancer (do this even if you're running 2.6.1)

- reinstalled Application Enhancer

And voila! My favorite take-it-for-granted-until-it's-gone app is BACK!

It's the primary reason I'm not upgrading to Lion...

Please let me know if this works, and enjoy!

I know this is an old post, but WindowShade X stop working for me when I originally bought my 2009 iMac two years, ago and updated to OS X 10.6.8 a year later.

Unsanity has been gone for awhile and I didn't want pay the ridiculous prices for the other Windowshade apps.

So, I decided to a search out of curiosity to see if there was any other solution for this and I found this posting.

I'd just like to report the uninstalling Unsanity's Application Enhancer app then reinstalling did the trick.

My WindowShade X app is now working again after over a year without it.

I really missed not having this functionality and I am really grateful and glad I found this posting/thread.

I love having my window bars roll up, once again.

I do not know if this functionality will go away, agin, if I start using OS X Mavericks on a more regular basis, but I still use and my Snow Leopard OS for a large part of my professional and personal work. So, I am very glad to have this functionality back.

If I nnd a relpacement for this on Mavericks, I'll think about purchasing one of ther other apps to get this functionality there in the future.

It just seems the two sources, that are linked to in this thread, are just ripping users off for this feature.

$15 and $25 dollars is pretty steep for having what I think still should be a standard, bulit-in feature of OS X.

I sorely missed the window bar minimization when Apple left it out of OS X from the getgo.

ThanX to everyone!

😉
