Hi all,
My daughter put a new passcode on her iPhone 4S, and subsequently forgot the new passcode. She never synced with a computer. When I try to restore using my Mac, I get the error message, 'iTunes could not connect to the iPhone because it is locked with a passcode...'. Any suggestions?

You'll have to force the phone into recovery mode & restore as a new device to remove the passcode. All data on the phone will be erased. There is no other way:
Turn your phone off. Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new. In your case, the ONLY option is new.
Hi, I have the same problem, forgotten my iPhone pass code and got a new computer which hasn't been synced with my phone. I have done everything above, but half way through a message would say the iPhone couldn't not be restored, an unknown error.
Do you know why this could be?

But mine they say iphone is locked. have to unlock before it can restore. plz help

i have the same problem. so i followed your instruction.
but suddenly my iphone turns off when i restore it. and th itunes is already downloading the iphone software update.
when i try to turn off my iphone again and hold the home botton. the connect to itunes doesn't show up anymore.
what should i do?

have you be able to restore the information?I have important information and I cant effort to loose the info and I never sync the only computer it sync is when I purchase the phone I sync it there.can I restore it in new computer since my son forgot the password he put?
This happened to me too. I tried to restore it but it keeps telling me that it can't due to it being locked with a password, thus making my device "not eligible for the requested build". What do I do? Please help...

Two completely separate issues.
An iPhone being passcode locked is not the cause of "not eligible for the requested build".
Error 3194, Error 17, or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build"
I see. I went to the Apple Store and they reset it for me there. Thanks for replying.
