Recovering old Voice Mail Messages.

My wife recently reset her iPhone 4 and lost all of her saved voice mail messages. She was able to retrieve messages from the past month. Though she really wants to recover some messages that were up to a year old. These messages were from her mother who passed away in the end for December. Does anyone have a suggestion on how these can be recovered?

Thanks

Usually, Voicemail messages are held in the phone company servers and these messages expire after a certain period of time (usually 14 days with AT&T). These "expired" messages are deleted automatically from the servers at the phone company and they cannot be recovered. The iPhone itself cannot save this messages on its internal memory.

Hope this helps.

Oh..., I notice this "I have this question too Show 110 Likes (110)", that's means many people want to recover lost or deleted voice mail messages from their iPhone. For some new one with the same problem, you may refer to this similar discussion. Though there are many answers for this problem in the disscusion, but sometimes you need a simple answer.

Hi there livewellnow, so sorry to hear that about your phone. I know how you feel. In the end I was unable to recover those sentiment

Sentimental messages either, which were accidentally deleted. I believe the only way you can save them is to go into your mobile phones server message bank weekly and save them that way. Once they're saved each time from your servers end, then they are saved forever on your phone. I can't believe that apples iCloud doesn't save them as it saves every bloody thing else.

Maybe if this is an issue of sentimentality us mere mortals have, Apple might get their act together so they can also be saved on our computers as audio in iTunes library!

My empathy goes out to you.

This happened to me going from my iPhone to the Galaxy s4 because apple and Android use different mailbox systems. Luckily, Verizon has gotten so many complaints that they set up a line that let's you access all your old voicemails. I used the voice recorder on my old iPhone to record my 38 messages while I was dialed in from my new phone....stuff from my kids as well as business calls. They are good for a month to retrieve.

The number is 408-315-8134. Input your phone number (mailbox number) and your password. Hope this helps someone.

Hi. I have the same situation as your wife. Were you able to retrieve the sentimental voice mails from her mother? I am going to try the software mentioned above but an Apple senior advisor told me that a backup doesn't apply to voice mails!!! I am just devasted!!!!! This all happened with I switched from my 4s to the 5s. I plan to call sprint to see if they can retrieve them from the server as well. Please let me know. Thanks!!!

If you'd like to learn how to recover old voice mail messages on iPhone, watch the video or follow the steps below:

Step 1: Open the Phone app and navigate to the "Voicemail" tab at the bottom of the screen.

Step 2: Scroll to the bottom of the list that contains your current messages, then tap on "Deleted Messages." This option will only be available if you have recently deleted any voice mail. The length of time that deleted messages remain available varies by carrier.

Step 3: Here you'll be able to preview any messages that you have recently deleted. If you'd like to restore a message, make sure it's selected and then tap on "Undelete."

I upgraded to the iPhone 6, after a week I thought about making sure that my saved voicemails were still on my phone. I was devastated to find that some of my most sentimental voicemails were gone. After about an hour of looking on my phone service carrier's website I decided to look here. Per the comments I downloaded iExployer. It worked effortlessly! I registered and paid because I wanted to make sure that the information could all be found. I did not see an option for a free version. However the fee was reasonable, within seconds my precious voicemails were saved on my hard drive and can be easily exported to an external hard drive for save keeping. I am so thankful that I can hear my sweet Grandmother's voice! I would highly recommend iExplorer. I am so thankful that I found this information! Thank you!

I just wanna say thank you for your wonderful suggestion! I, too, lost my father and I had accidentally also lost his voicemails on my phone recently. I was crying and panicking because I thought that I won't ever be able to get back those precious voicemails, but then I found this forum, and only your suggestion proved to be successful! I'm so grateful! And of course relieved that I was able to get back what I once thought was impossible, plus more! I now have so many voicemails from my father, most of which I forgot that I had in the first place! I even have access to tons of other messages from various people over the years that I'll leisurely look through at a later time.

So thanks again!! Perhaps one might say that I'm being emotional over something a tad trivial, and while I agree that getting back voicemails is certainly not as good as getting back my father, I'd rather have his voice and memories with me than nothing at all.

P.S. To everyone who needs to recover old voicemail messages that can no longer be found in your phone, please get iExplorer from Macproplant...it really works!

Hi,

I encountered a similar issue. Yesterday, the AT&T rep put a new SIM card on my phone & I lost my mom's voicemails which were retrieved from the 'deleted folder' from iphone voicemail. I tried using iExplorer but couldn't find any of her messages. All I could find were messages from past 1 month. Can anyone suggest any other way to retrieve those messages?

Thank you so much for this thread/post. My dad passed away 9/2014 and I saved his old voicemails on my iPhone 5s. recently my iPhone crashed/blue screen of death and I was devastated because I thought I loss all the messages from my dad. Anyhow, I have updated my iPhone multiple times since then. Most recently 4/2016.

I went to a data recovery place (to try and recover date from my phone) and they quoted me $50 for diagnostics and it could cost between $100-$2000 to recover my data. I waited because I wanted to research myself.

Tonight, I was googling and found this thread.

I bought the backup-extractor and it worked!!!! I successfully extracted from my ITune backup file all my voicemails, old and current using http://www.backuptrans.com/itunes-backup-extractor.html (Windows and MAC versions available).

Thank you so much for this information. Priceless.
