Can't send aol mail from my iphone but can receive it. Help!

I have just experienced the same problem and could not get it to work again!! I downloaded the aol app but have an issue whereby I type emails and send and they send as blank with no text! It’s been driving me mad for weeks as I don’t like the app. I have just followed tiger

This happened to me today also on both my ipad2 and iPhone 4S. I have tried everything on both. I also have a gmail account and have redirected my outgoing messages to that acct. Help

Me too. I've tried everything you have and same thing. Wondering if it's an aol issue.

Well, I guess I make the 4th person. Just this afternoon this happened to me. I know the user name/password is correct because I am able to sign onto AOL on my desktop. I called AT&T and they reset the network settings on my phone, but that didn't do any good. HELP

It might be an AOL issue, however, I don't pay for AOL, just use the email, and when I called, they wouldn't help me because I'm not a paying customer. Has anyone else tried calling AOL?

this is going on with me too today... has to be a prob with aol. Apple couldn't figure it out and so I'm definitely thinking aol. on another note... how do you get a "free" aol webmail account?

Sending and receiving use 2 different servers. You must enter the user ID and password for both the incoming and outgoing (SMTP) servers. So just because you can receive does not mean that you can send. You could still send via web mail because you are logged in to the site, but not from the iPhone if either the settings were wrong or if AOL had outgoing server problems. As it had been working unless you reset the phone or upgraded it your settings are probably correct.

Verizon and Apple tested eveything on my phone.

Defintely AOL issue. The mail is going to their server but then getting hung up.

Tried calling AOL but because I am not a paying user, they will not help me. However, the Apple guy did state that he is sure they know about it and to give it 24-48 hours to be fixed.

AOL server problem- took them a day or two to fix it last time- aol outgoing works on my computer but not iPhone but my gmail iPhone account works fine- first time this happened I wasted hours on phone with aol and Apple- this time not going to bother unless it's not fixed in next 24-48 hrs

And what's strange is that my aol outgoing mail works from my iPad but not iPhone- last time neither worked

It's defintely AOL, because my girlfriend's AOL is not working on her iPhone either, even when we add "Other Mail" account and make it an AOL, it doesn't work.....

I was having the same problem. I could send emails all day and then a couple hours ago, I couldn't. This is what I did. I deleted the aol account off my iphone. Then I went back on to Add Account. Instead of clicking on the AOL icon though, I clicked on OTHER and created the AOL account as an imap account. Now I can send and receive emails. It all seems to be working now.
