I have the same problem. I'm using a Mac Air, Safari, wifi and a cable modem. This may be a coincidence, but I upgraded to OS X 10.7.3 about a week ago. I've also tried Firefox with no luck. What's strange is that I can use my Windows PC and access adobe.com with no problem. On the Mac I have no problem accessing any other site. Interestingly, I can select Check for Updates in Lightroom or Elements and it "seems" to access the site and come back with no updates. Also, no proxies set. Rebooted the wifi and cable modem.
I ran through all of the suggestions that caribb51 mentioned on another thread with someone who had the same problem without any luck. I hope no one minds me jumping in with my output:
