Hi,
I have a 15" MBP and recently a red light has appeared in the headphone jack. This red light coincides with the loss of audio from internal speakers. I've tried pulling a haedphone minplug in and out to no avail. Red light = NO AUDIO. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The red light was on, I restarted my macbook, the light was gone but the sound didn't return. I used a stick to poke it and wiggled in a circular motion but that didn't work.
I blew it and still wasn't working, but I put my mouth against the hole and blew as hard as I could and the sound came back within 10 seconds!
This saved me a ride to the Apple store too.

The red light was on, also the sound icon at the top was grayed out. Just kept twirling until the icon showed up black again.
This worked perfect! I just spent almost an hour trying to fix this, tried your suggestion and it was an immediate fix! Thanks!
OMG. Blowing air really fixed the issue. I thought it was a joke. Thank you!!!!!
PS: You really need to put your mouth onto the headphone jack and blow hard to make it work!

I tried so many things, I can't believe that this little thing worked. Genius!
No matter what I didn't I couldn't get it working, do anybody in the same shoes, buy an USB audio device , plug it in, bam!! Sound once again!!
