yes, it is possible with iPhone data recovery program.

Even from a factory restore? That's new to me.

It's theoretically possible with (expensive) forensic recovery software. For all practical purposes, that data is gone.

To recover lost data from iPhone without backup:
1) Select the device to scan
2) Enter the DFU mode and then scan your iPhone
* Hold your iPhone and click "Start".
* Press "Home" and "Power" button at the same time when you click "Start",and hold for 10 seconds. The program will count it for you.
* After 10 seconds passing, release "Power" and keep pressing "Home" for another 10 seconds.
3) Preview and recover deleted iPhone data

Found a program and finally got my lost iPhone contacts and messages back. Thanks for the idea! Helped me a lot!

Hi there---- I attempted to update software on my iPhone 4 and it deleted my contacts, although my call history and text messages remained. I surfed and saw several mentions of software that can cover lost iPhone data, but I am very SUSPICIOUS of whether any of it works. At an Apple repair store they didn't have any such program, and you would think that if there was a data recovery program that worked, they wouldl have one and charge customers to retrieve lost contacts, address books, etc.

Have you found ANYTHING out there can help? I did not have the contacts backed up on iCloud and the iTunes backup apparently didn't save the contacts :-( :-( Desperate, but not so desperate to spend $75 for a bogus program........

thanks.

You are leery of buying software over the internet, but you are perfectly comfortable posting your email address in an online public forum that is accessible to millions of people, many of whom are not all that honest? At the least it will increase your spam a hundredfold. If you use that email address for any secure website passwords you are at risk for identity theft.

I just got an iPhone 5S and I shot some video on it before I synced it to iTunes, I (yes, stupidly because I didn't understand what the term completely entailed) restored the old phone to the new one and wiped out the video files. It looks like you can recover from the 4S even without back up but currently no one has software for recovering files after a restore on a 5S, and I checked out Wondershare Dr. Fone and other programs, Dr. Fone just shows me what was deleted from my old phone. Wondershare said that they were working on it and so for now I am not going to shoot video on the 5S in hopes that it will be soon.

I started down the DFU path from some posts I saw here but never got the scan prompt from iTunes. Does anyone have any ideas for me?

If you have synced your iPhone 4s to iTunes on a computer before and have not synced it after you lost all your data, you can get them back. But iTunes can't help. You need to get a third party iPhone data recovery software like UFUSoft Fonelab, which helped you recover lost data on iPhone 4s after accidental restore. You can give it a shot!

I have back up files on iCloud, also can recover them?

If you are referring to your Photo Stream photos, then the restoration will result in only the last 1000 photos, or the photos for the last 30 days being restored. Photo Stream is not a permanent place to house photos, and although you can have more than what has been defined above on an individual device, as soon as Photo Stream is turned off and then back on again, or as soon as the device is restored, only the last 1000 photos or the last 30 days of photos will be restored, whichever comes first.
