iPhone very slow wifi after 7.6.1. update

Just finish the updates of 7.6.1. and the aiport utility 6.

Every Macbook Pro (3 pieces) and iPads (one and two) are all running fine. Except two iPhone 4GS running so slow on the wifi.

I have reboot the airport extreme and iphones few times but do not help.

Anyone has this problem?

I'm going to give this a mild bump because it's such a beautiful simple solution and it really worked. After 7.6.1 'settled in' for a day, my new iPad was seeing downloads at 24 Mbps, the laptops were fine, but my iPhone 4s and my wife's 4 were both almost dead in the wifi water, dropping connection, barely able to download email, forgetting the wifi password... I thought it was the phone, reset the network settings, did every kind of restore available including a DFU restore, a trip to the Genius (humph) Bar, and much more. But simply resetting the channel on the AEBS fixed it all in 10 seconds.

Steps in case you need them:

1. Run AirPort Utility (I'm going to assume you got the new, GUI, dumbed-down version)

2. Click on the AEBS image and then Edit in right lower corner of the popout.

2a. If you're new to the utility, it will ask for your AEBS password first

3. Click the Wireless tab at the top, then the Wireless Options... button at the bottom

4. In the 2.4Ghz popup, click 8 or 9 or 11 or...

I may fire up iStumbler to see if one channel is 'most open', but the simple solution near the top of this thread made my day. Thanks!!!

I have the exact same issue involving iPhone 4S being slow while iPad Mini and Mac are as fast as ever (or faster). iPhone is up to date as of this post (5/7/13). I can't speed test Apple TV but it is working great.

I have the added isssue that my Wifi Printer and my internet alarm clock won't connect at all.

I think it is absurd that you cannot use "auto" because a neighbor has a stronger signal on the same channel. Downloading some crapware to scan channel usage is not acceptable fix for an expensive apple product. I can place the phone on top of the APExtreme and it is still slow. It is not signal strength.

I spent two hours of a work day trying to resolve the printer issue. I ended up working til 8PM over it. The only solution ended up being driving to a Radio Shack to buy an absurdly expensive ethernet cable long enough to reach the printer. There is no IT department when you are working remotely from home. This is unacceptable and Apple needs to fix this soon.

This update was buggy. I breaks some devices. It slows some devices.

I don't have the issue. I have an iPhone 4, an iPad 2, a mid 2010 iMac and a 2006 MacBook Pro, and they are all running at near the Time Warner 15 Mbps "guaranteed" rate. I have an AEBS too.

You can install Airport Utility 5.6 without uninstalling Airport Utility 6. I don't have the link for it handy, but in 5.6 you can look at the Wifi client signal to noise ratios, so when you pick a different frequency you can see if it improved or got worse, or no change.

I don't see why you couldn't use the automatic channel selection that AirPort Utility 6.0 does.
