So complain to Google for not returning precise enough search results. You did, of course, specify in your search which version of Pages you wanted a solution to apply to. (Not that doing so would narrow the results significantly.)
The information in this thread is 'out of date' only if you're using a newer version of Pages. For someone who decided that the current version, missing over 100 features present in pages '09, isn't the best choice to fill their needs, the information is quite current.

Hmmm.. This instruction seems to apply to paragraphs containing more than a single line. The original question concerned automatic indenting of lists—not first line indenting of paragraphs. Does your response address lists as well?
