After installing the update AppleWorks and Eudora crash any time I try to access any kind of file dialog: Save, Save As, Open, etc. Do any of you have the same problem or a fix perhaps?

Security Update 2012-001 v 1.1 is released, hit your software update.

I have been having the same problem since updating.  AppleWorks crashes when trying to print, WeatherMenu doesn't work any more.  X-Charge is missing features now too.  These are all PPC applications that worked until the 2012-001 update was applied.

    Same problems, really a drag...

I am having the same problem with Canvas X, another PPC program.

  • Lilig Level 1 Level 1

Same here. PPC applications crash after the update, most of the time after calling the "print" function. Let's hope they don't want to kill Rosetta to push us toward Lion! Hey, I still have old docs or softwares I need under SnowL like many others I guess.

    Please, update the update... :/

Reporting similar issues with Eudora, crashes upon attempting to add an attachment to any file, or using dialog boxes.

I have an older version of Photoshop (v.8) that no longer functions properly.  I can't save any changes to new or existing files.

This "security" update 2012 is a warmed over turd. I cannot believe they released this without any sort of warnings about issues with Rosetta applications!

I mean people there is a freakin' reason we didn't yet upgrade to Lion... Legacy Applications... Heard of them?

  • littleredgto Level 1 Level 1

Has anyone found a fix for this issue?  I have some expensive Photoshop software that doesn't work now and I don't want to buy new.  Any help is appreciated!!

  • littleredgto Level 1 Level 1

Mee too!  Anyone with a fix please put it on here!

There doesn't seem to be a work-around for the Photoshop issue.  This is a major problem for users who rely on an older version of Photoshop!  Hopefully Apple is monitoring this discussion!

    Hi all !

Same problem here with Canvas X and all othe PPC apps that I use everyday

I suspect Apple partialy broke Rosetta / 10.6.x on purpose as many people, like me, refused to move to crapy 10.7.x.

Time to move to a virtualized 10.6.8 server that I happen to have "found"

Hey Apple, you screw us : we screw you

So, folks, get a good VPN/proxy like this one and then go grab your copy of 10.6 server that can easily be virtualized

Just Google exactly this (first result should be the right one ) : Mac OS X Server 10.6 - Snow Leopard - RETAIL (real)

Finally, SEED that to all others who need that 10.6.x server to keep their Rosetta apps.

Here is a fairly simple way you can restore you system and restore you applications functionality again, if you don't have a recent clone or good Time Machine backup that you can restore from.

    - You first start by reinstalling your OS X 10.6.x, this will preserve all your user data, your applications, no worries there.

    - Then install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 (links provided below)

    - Make sure you're printers are showing up correctly in your system preferences, if not, re-add the printers

    - Then finally, run the Apple Software Update (by pulling down the Apple Menu), and install any and all remaining updates, except do not then re-install the Security Update 2012-001. It is possible that you may have to reboot after installing some of the updates, and you may even need to run it a 2nd time to make sure that you've got all updates, except NOT the Security Update 2012-001.
