Same here. My iPad and iPhone are both showing I have updates available but I can't connect to the iTunes store. I've tried the iPad, iPhone and my iMac. None can connect to download the updates. I've been getting the temporarily unavailable error message since yesterday evening.

I'm relived in a way that we are having the same issue, that it's just not me, that perhaps it's an iTunes issue, still that doesn't make either one of us feel better either = (
I'm frustrated because Friday night is movie night, and I can't rent or download any shows from the previous week to watch them.
I've restarted, updated, reboot the wireless, etc. Nothing seems to be working at all.

I'm having the same issue. I have 6 devices with the same account, all cannot access iTunes to update.
2 - iPhone 4
2 - iPod Touch (4th Gen)
It seems to be tied to specific accounts only. However, unable to find a fix.
EDIT/UPDATE: Just discovered that I am able to purchase, and download, music from the iTunes Store. Seems to be only the App Store that I'm unable to purchase/download/update from.

I am having the same issue with my Apple ID Account on different devices.
iMac, iPhone 4S, 2 x iPad1, MacBook Pro
Message in German:
Es kann nicht nach verfügbaren Downloads gesucht werden.
Der iTunes Store ist zurzeit nicht verfügbar.
Versuchen Sie es später erneut.
When I use another Apple ID for Test purpose everything works fine,
only my normally used Apple ID, Apps could not be downloaded or updated anymore.

Same issue, however I purchased a book in iBooks and it has gone through and been charged but cannot download.

Still unable to do anything with the account/itunes. Tried it on other devices as well, iPad, iMac, mac book, and mac book pro, nadda, nothing.
So frustrating. I'm going to try and create a new account, and download a free episode, just to see if that works. I can't even authroize the computer back either.
I hope this gets resloved soon.

Found the solution:
Open the terminal and clear the cache (log out of iTunes first)
After you clear the cache, log back into your iTunes account, go to edit account, and make sure to update your name: For example we use initals, S&J with the last name as Y. I removed the "&" sign, and just left the first inital, and removed the "." after the "Y" for last name, and it worked fine.
I also updated the telephone number too. This worked for me, it also could be a fluke, or that it's working for everyone too, but no issues after this, so far.
I hope this works for the others who are experiencing this.

wow resetting the cache changed my download speed on itunes from 2 to3 hours an episode to 15 min a episode on my pc
Thanks a million now thhis is solved hopefully I can get my Apple tv back to normal

I removed the sign
in my Account Name and then everything worked fine again.

Woo Hoo! This has been bugging me for several days.
I took the "&" ampersand character out of the billing address in my appleId and I can download apps again!

So glad it's working for everyone. Did clearing the cache help with the downlaod speed for anyone?
