Using iPad as a storage device for photos & videos

Hi


I am going overseas in June/July. I am wondering if i can take photos & videos on an SD card then transfer them to an ipad so i can delete them off my SD card, then when i get home, take them from the ipad to my Mac and edit them???


any help would be greatly appreciated.

Personally, I third the others, just purchase extra SD cards. You can use the iPad to look at your pics of course, but I'm not sure if the iPad backs up photos 'intact'...it optimizes images for viewing on the iPad and reports have been mixed whether it leaves the original file untouched or if what you end up with is an altered and possibly compressed file.


I wouldn't do it. If I were needing a backup I'd be considering either the extra cards or a laptop/netbook where the files can be dragged across intact and unaltered.

Is it really true that the maximum capacity for photo storage on an iPad is limited to 16GB regardless of the its size? I want to purchase an iPad for photo storage and was told by a sales rep. at an Apple Store that the capacity would equal the total GB on the iPad minus the GB that the iOS and the apps use. In other words, according to them, a 64GB iPad would have closer to 64GB of storage than 16 GB. Please confirm your statement with a source. I'm confused and would like to find an answer before I purchase one.
