Pages documents won't open or download

I have a few documents in iCloud that suddenly will not open on any iOS device or download through a browser on a Mac. I created these documents a few weeks ago and have edited them several times, not all of the sudden when I click on the icon on an iPhone or an iPad the icon flashes but it doesn't open, and when I try to download them with Safari I get an error saying they can't be downloaded.

What is going on? How can I get to my documents? As I am sure you can imagine, these are important files that I need to be able to open. Hours and hours of work here that can't be easily reproduced.

Hi there,

Me and my IT guy figured out the problem, somehow the documents on iCloud lost their extension, I re added .pages or .numbers extension and the problem was solved.

Yes I was doing it in pages on my Mountain lion Mac, you don't need to sync with iTunes, it's all automatically synced through iCloud, make sure all the updates have been applied.

I just tried it on my iPad and all I did was touch the file name and it opened up the rename box, try that and just add .pages to the end if the name.

strangely enough, last night my iPad just started syncing again, after two months of not working.

I'm wondering if someone at Apple read my post and did something on their end...

I read somewhere that of you can get the .pages to your computer, you can change the .pages extension to .zip and extract the contents of the document to make it usable again

Apple : Why do I have pages documents on my ipad, written IN pages ON my ipad, that will no longer open?

This seems ridiculous.
