Yes, but it wasn't pretty.
After trying multiple remedies, some described here, with zero results, I was forced to wipe out the entire phone and restore it. This, after wiping out and reloading iTunes a few times.
After I got iTunes stabilized, and deselecting all music to be synced, I did a full restore of the phone, it's Apps. I then reloaded the music fresh.
It took the better part of three days to get the phone back to where I wanted.
Still feel it was a "unstable" iTunes update that was the cause.
Oh, I worked with two techs from Apple Tech support for better than 4 hrs. I got off the phone the last time trying a recommended solution that I had previously attempted with no result. That one didn't work either.
So , the solution that finally worked was a self inflicted nuking of both the PC 's iTunes, then the iPhone, starting from scratch.
