Youtube not working in Safari

Hello, this is my first post.

Recently I have been experiencing a problem with running youtube videos in the Safari browser. It started to happen spontaneously about 1-2 weeks ago, and so far has not changed.

If I click a video to play (embedded like in faecbook or on another website or directly from the youtube page), the video tries to load but it never does. Usually, the page reloads (like if I had clicked the refresh button) a few times, then times-out. All other tabs currently opened in Safari are affected as well, just like I have clicked refresh on each tab. When I click on a tab to open it, it refreshes and I have to load each page separately.

The youtube video never loads at all, and usually i have to close the browser completely...

I thought this might have been a problem on the youtube page, but no one else is experiencing these problems...

I also tried to update Abode flash player, but this made no difference. My software on the mac are also up-to-date.

So far I havent found a solution to this problem so any help is appreciated. I think the problem is with Safari, so I was thinking to reinstall it, but so far have seen on these forums that this is not so easy to do.

Please help! 😕

I am SOOOOO glad I found SOMEONE else with this problem.. I mean there's no solution here, but this is THEE EXACT problem (to the tee!) That has had me literally pulling my hair out!!!! it's driving me nuts, i've emptied caches and removed cookies till I was blue in the face. Which at one point, deleting the cookies did help, and I thought I had solved the problem, but then it came back almost immediately. And for some reason, I noticed that after I remove all of the cookies, the same exact ones reappear, even though I have not revisted those sites. I only wish there was a solution as like ches said, it seems like no one else is having this problem, which is why I'm at least glad i'm not the ONLY one search for answers for this... This is ridiculous.

Hey Pro4281,

Sorry to hear you had this problem as well. I tried all the things that people suggested on this thread and nothing worked. So I switched to Google Chrome and anyways now I like that browser way more then Safari anyways.

In the meantime, i just tried Safari again, and there was an Adobe update that I installed, and now it also works in Safari as well. Dunno if that update was the key, or something else that was worked out...

ANyways good luck, thanks to everyone who tried to help with this problem.

This worked for me as well. Such an easy fix and so glad I did not start dumping Internet Plugins before simply clicking this link! Should mark the thread as "solved" and copy this step to the beginning.

This seemed to be the problem for me. Youtube immediately worked after opting out of the html5 trial.

YUP.

I literally just found out about the html5 trial FIVE minutes before reading this thread. Also having the exact same problems for the last two or three weeks. Words can't describe how frustrating it was not being able to find answers.

I suggest they send mass email to YT members giving them the heads up because I was infuriated by the playback problems. That or give up on the HTML5 experiment.

I've already opted out of the trial and when I go to the link it even says "You are not currently in the HTML5 trial." and then asks me if i would like to join.. yet my problem still persists and it's druving me insane.. tired of emptying my cache and cookies folders just to watch some youtube videos. Any other more specific solutions would be greatly appreciated
