Once my book is uploaded, how long before it appears in iTunes?

Uploaded the book several days ago and haven't seen it yet.

I just got this in an email about an iBook thats been live and on new and noteworthy several days after it went live. I have several books up that have audio narration for each chapter/video/ image galleries and a complex HTML5/Javascript LUX conversion calculator. For a book I think the functionality is quite good.

The books are AOS Orchid Culture Volume 1 and Phalaenopsis Culture Plus. If these books get pulled for "limited functionality" I'm done with Apple. My Phalaenopsis book just moved from new and noteworthy to "whats hot" in gardening & is actually selling a few copies... Makes no sense to me what so ever... i have an email into to their support dept to ask what they are talking about.

Limited Functionality

'limited functionality' can either be a tough love snub or use of a catch-all/default reject reason-if-the-day.

Developers are always charged to submit apps that work to showcase the platform...authors are no less tasked to do the same.

It's a good thing for users, and after all, Apple does for Apple, and anything that helps the store look good makes Apple look good, but for authors that simply want to be part of it, being rejected for overuse of vanilla can be hard to take.

Use these types of rejections as fuel to do better....that way everyone wins.

I suspect that the length of the book isn't so much an issue. The phrase is more likely to be a catch-all for politely saying that the quality of the book was insufficient in some way. That might be spelling problems, layout problems, offensive material, or whatever. Many children's books are very short, so I wouldn't worry about length per se. If it's a nicely presented and well-written book, it seems unlikely it would be rejected just because it's short.

This is ridiculous. I am now quite concerned.

Is it "insufficient length" or "insufficient content"?

If your book(s) acts works to flatter the platform, outright length shouldn't be an issue. Make it shine and Apple will jump on the chance to include it in the store.

If your books are so short as to be considered too minimal by anyone's standards, see if you can find a way to consolidate the content into one volume instead.
