Once my book is uploaded, how long before it appears in iTunes?
Uploaded the book several days ago and haven't seen it yet.

If this is your upload, it may take a while. New iAuthor files are taking a while on their own. I know the waiting period can be nerveracking. Others on the forum feel the same way. - Fabe
By recent reports, it looks like just a few days, maybe a week. Big improvement over the state of affairs three months ago!
Michi.
Yes--I remember waiting weeks!
A quick update, my second iBooks Author book (Filmmaking with iMovie: Interactive Guide) was approved in 4 hours - that's crazy!! It went on sale 2 hours later.
Great job Apple. A massive improvement from the six week wait I had in May.
Was your book paid or free?
If it's free it's normal. Free books take max. 1 business day to approve.
If it's paid it's really fast!!! A normal paid book take about two weeks to approve.(see iTunes Connect FAQ's)
kind regards,
Matis
Wow, I just sent in my 3rd book and 1st app. Both are currently in review. The waiting times have really improved, I remember in March the review times were exceedingly long–great jobs, Apple!
Yeah it was a paid book - it's linked in my post 🙂
I'm in the US and my experience was remarkably quick. I posted the book on Friday at about 11:30 Mountain Time, got a revise ticket that afternoon, fixed and republished. Checked Ticket Status for any other issues. eBook is online by 10:00ish on Monday.
A couple of caveats... The book is heavily formated in iBook Author, with a ton of interactive media. About 60 hours of production time and heavy QA prior to submission, from a press ready Pages document. Pretty good with Apple's iWork suite so iBook Author has a familiar face. Even then, failed first submission. (Two issues: 1. Used the word iBook on the copyright page to indicate that iBook Author was used to create this iBook. [Fail, see trademark usage.] 2. "The PowerPoint 2010BC interactive media is incorrectly placed on the Clint Eastwood quote in portrait view." [Portrait view has some trickiness with sidebar stuff.])
Bottom line: I am really impressed on how quickly the book went live. (Search "Carpe Audience"). This specific book carries graphic requirements that a typical epub just can't support. (Kack!) And iBook Author and the bookstore allow for the retention of graphic design in an interactive ebook that wasn't possible before.
If you're stuck in the process, read your ticket history and revise per ticket comment.
Ok then....I'm waiting with two "unnknown errors" for over a week. Contacted Apple and they said this will simply require additional time. Is this normal? Thank you.
Amen to that! I couldn't believe the charge for an ISBN. It's free for New Zealand residents. What's up with that? Come on Apple, gives us a break and share the wealth!
ON August 13, 2012 I submitted a book to apple. I got the green check that all submitted correctly. BUT, there is still a red dot beneath my book indicating that it is not in the iBookstore yet. I have contacted apple about this and received this answer on August 16th:
Hello Anne,
Thank you for contacting iBookstore Publisher Support.
I understand you would like to know if you need to action the Unknown Issue on your title 'Choice Without Chaos' preventing the book from being on the iBookstore. I can assure you your title is under review and no action is required at this time. I apologize for the confusing messaging, Apple is aware of the issue and working to resolve it.
We have no estimate of book review time currently. Titles are reviewed in the order in which they are received and if we have more books in the review queue, review times can vary. Your title is under additional review as it is a textbook. We appreciate your patience.
If you have any questions about this information or would like to discuss with us directly, please call and reference follow-up number 222742620. We are always happy to help. You can reach us Monday - Friday, from 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM (PST) at 1(877)-206-2092.
Best Regards,
iBookstore Publisher Support
I don't want to be a pest, but it is now August 21 and the dot is still RED. Any advice?
Anne
Well, do know that the team does not include weekends into your time (as they are presumable off). Books take and the process is about 1-2 weeks (not including buisness days). So don't worry. Back in March, it took a month or more!!! Times have really imrpoved!
Thanks Greg. It is nice to hear from someone who experienced a similar frustration with the lack of oommunication. I just wish the red dot would turn yellow so I knew that it was really being reviewed. Do " textbooks" really take longer?
Anne
Yes, I've writtten a textbook and currenty have it published on the iBookstore (remember, that if you use iBooks Author, you're bound by the EULA agreement and can't sell your textbook to Kindle or Nook). If you've written a textbook too, then email ebookquery@apple.com and request your book to be placed in the appropriate category (i.e. Textbooks section, History category, etc.) It seems to me that standard ePub books are somewhat quicker, but this may not completely be the case. As I said previously, the times have really imroved--right after Apple introduced iBooks Author in Janusary, I started using it. When I submitted my book in March, it took a month (or more) to get it published. I'm a developer, too and waiting for my app to be reviewed. Everything takes time (but Apple carefully revieews every submission to make sure it's quaity work), and I understand your frustration. You just want to see your book on the store!! 🙂
P.s.--A green dot means the book is publsuhed, then yellow means "ready for sale."

Could you point me at the relevant section of the EULA for this? This doesn't line up with my understanding.
Michi.
