Once my book is uploaded, how long before it appears in iTunes?

Uploaded the book several days ago and haven't seen it yet.

If this is your upload, it may take a while. New iAuthor files are taking a while on their own. I know the waiting period can be nerveracking. Others on the forum feel the same way. - Fabe

I just published my second book, and it took less than 48 hours. It is a coffee table style photo book featuring 50 of my favorite iPhone Photographs from 2012...

You can find it here....

That is about a month faster than than the first book I published.

Things are improving!

Catching up on old thread .......

We have noted release time has dropped to less than a day for books that go in without error. But it seems to take a while for them to get back to any book that gets into the reject bucket.

Even after posting a fix, it can be a week before they get it approved and released. Sometimes less, but one took even longer.

I assume they move on to other new posts and evetually round-robin back to rejects.

So, I consider the delay as my own fault and then try to do better on the verify pass of the next set.

My daughter is the author ( she is in Vet School, and so far releases are supplemental materials supporting here coursework)

Google searching by author name returns a bunch of the books, but attempting to search for Veterinary Ibooks" " histology ibooks" etc, --- the terms the students are more likely to use --- returns nothing unless the search is done in iTunes ( and sometimes not even then if done outside the US). Given most folks don't seem to know they need to do that, it continues to be a challenge getting the books promoted.

I published my book in the iBookstore. By the end of the day, "Manage My Books" said my book was on sale, and I could find it in a search by my name or its title. I can also make a link to it. However, only my best buds could buy it, because you can't stumble upon it by browsing. It's not a new book, it's not a "made with iA" book, it's not in its category; I looked everywhere It's as if it's locked away in a back room. I thought finding books by browsing was the whole point of a bookstore.

How does one go about making one's books discoverable by browsing? Or does this take longer for some reason?

John Kraft:

Don't worry–Apple's iBookstore review staff doesn't work on the weekend (I'm nearly positive on that). It has sometimes taken up to a week in recent months. Be patient! :)

Kenneth Collins1:

It can take several days to categorize your book. If you are interested in having your book in say the "Made With iBooks Author" category, you must request it by Apple. Email them: ibookstore@apple.com. Within the next few days/hours, you should be able to locate your book without a direct iBookstore URL.

almost two years ago I uploaded my first e-book (51 Portuguese Idioms), epub version, and it took less than a week to be available on 51 stores.

Last week I uploaded my second one, children's book, and it's still not available. 😕

I wonder if the IBA format takes longer than the epub.

good luck to all of us who are anxiously waiting...

best,

Renata

The review process is much faster now (sometimes less than 24h) than it was a year ago (up to three month)

However, I experience some longer delays lately with new books and especially updates. It seems that they have software issues which might slow down the process. I think the whole software side with iTunes connect and iTunes Producer is a complete mess. Maybe they try to fix it (and introduce new bugs).

THe recommended procedure changes often and the Metadata doens' match up in different places. The constant downtimes on the sales reports site seems also an idication for underlying issues.

The good news is that you can get peaople on the line, get escalated if problems persist. This is a major improvement compared to the rocky start from last year.

Hope that helps

I uploaded (successfully) an epub Monday morning at 10:45 AM EDT. It's Friday at 3:00 PM and still no change in status from 'Not on 51 stores' and no communication about problems. The details message reports that the title is 'being reviewed for quality assurance.' This was my first attempt to release a book through the iBookstore, and I did not expect such a long process.

Although Apple's devloper process for apps is not completely similar to the iBookstore's process, I can tell you that it take on average 5/6 buisness days (for apps).

If you've read this thread (to its beginings), then you realize that when Apple announced iBooks Author, the wait time was several months. 5 buisness days is honestly not terrible. Just be patient!! 😀

Once my book is uploaded, how long before it appears in iTunes?
