Once my book is uploaded, how long before it appears in iTunes?

Uploaded the book several days ago and haven't seen it yet.

If this is your upload, it may take a while. New iAuthor files are taking a while on their own. I know the waiting period can be nerveracking. Others on the forum feel the same way. - Fabe

Good news. The little light turned from red to green sometime this afternoon, making the wait time for the quality assurance review a few hours more than one week for an .epub book. That was my experience, at least, with a first delivery. I assume that it will shortly be visible on the iBookstore.

I hope that helps the collective and those others who, like me, wondered how long the process would take.

Does anyone have any experience of having a book reclassified from 'book' to 'textbook'? I delivered as a 'textbook' in iTunes Producer and was on the US store within 24 hours but in the books section rather than textbook. My book is aimed at grade 8, has custom built interactives and videos, even follows the 'Common Core Standards' for K8. Contacted iBookstore support but didn't get anywhere. Any help much appreciated.

Many thanks for your kindness in replying Gregg. The book is indeed an iBooks Author book. In addition, I have 20 years of teaching experience, I have authored books for one of the big companies, the book is aimed at grade 8 with instructional material and the book has many review questions. I did try mailing ibookstore but just got a quick reply that they 'reserve the right to alter classifications of books to help customers find what they are looking for'. Did you have to contact them a few times Gregg or what was it that worked?

Millthorpe,

I have published 4 books on the iBookstore. In my view the time is extremely variable - the longest took about four weeks and the shortest less than one day. It's always the same you cannot wait and then one day you check and there it is. As you are publishing an educational text you may be interested in this free book of mine.

Here are the details:

Name: The iSyllabus: An Apple Based Educational System.

I hope this helps.

Hi. This is my first post here. I just uploaded my first book to the iBookstore yesterday. It was in the iBookstore when I logged in this morning. (Yay!) However, it is not showing up in any searches. Do I just need to wait and it will show up eventually, OR is there something I need to do so that it's findable through search?

I did look through a few pages of responses here (though I confess I did not go through all 35 pages), but could not find any responses related to search results.

Thank you for any help.

Misty, I now have 3 books in the store and have found that yes you generally just have to be patient. First book took 3 weeks and a phone call but subsequent books took only around a week to show up. Then it also took a while for them to be more easily discovered in the store - still working out the tricks to that such as good titles etc... Some of mine show where I want them to and some are slightly lost in space. Have wondered to myself if the paid books get priority over the free ones. Also those more downloaded or commented on?

Lastly it took about 1 month for full stats to show up in iTunes Connect - must need a month of data for this to become fully active.

It really seems that there is an inconsitency in wait time. Fogetting about the 2-3 month wait for iBooks when it startet last year, my last book in May took only 24 hours to be approved, to my surprise.

Now I published my new iBook on Wednesday morning and we are heading into the weekend but still red.

Can someone explain to me why it is "rocket science", so Apple is unable to send an email to notify if a submission was approved or got a ticket. Just think about the cumulative loss of productivity of all the authors checking in every day (most likely multiple times) or missing a ticket if you didn't check in. Makes no sense to me.

Hi, Tidy. Thanks for the info. My book (a paid one) was in the iBookstore after a day. It took one more day before it showed up in any searches. I'm fine with that, but would just like to know. It was one more part of the process owned by Apple for which the timetable was unclear. Not knowing how long to plan for each step is messing up my mental Gantt chart.

Edgar, that's a great idea. From your keyboard to Apple's product managers and engineers!
