Buzz or hiss related to the screen

Anybody have a noticeable buzz or hiss that goes away when you drop the screen brightness down to nothing?

I've got an annoying buzz (audible in the room), and when I called Apple they said that it's normal. But this seems too loud to be normal.

Anybody else?

MBP 2.16, Mac OS X (10.4.5)

The sound output is fine when listening through headphones... It appears that the buzzing is coming from the speakers, though....

I got the same problem, took it down to the Apple Store, and they confirmed it was a bad fan. I have to return my unit.

The buzzing from my MBP is not that loud... I barely notice it... But it's there nonetheless. Do you think this is a fan issue as well, or is it normal?

I have the same buzzing sound. If I place my hands on the screen and hold it tight, the buzzing sound goes away. My guess, therefore, would be some vibration is hitting the resonance frequency of the MBP's display and causing it to produce this annoying sound.

John - I understand the thinking behind your suggestion - might work.

However - none of us want a sticky weight on a new $3,000 MBP - BUMMER.

I too am having this hiss. Anybody ask Apple what it could be and if they plan to offer any fixes for it, either software or hardware?

Just a "me too" post; the noise (at least, *that noise") goes away when I disable one core of the processor or use Photo Booth.

What I don't understand is why I hear the buzz/hiss when I have the MBP plugged in at school... and then it goes away when I'm plugged in at my desk at home. Any thoughts?
