What system of the same version are you talking about, also i'm using a Mac OS X.

I am saying if you have access to another Mac, AND if that Mac is running the same Mac OS X version (10.5.8), then you could get a copy of Applications -> System Preferences from that other Mac OS X system.

If you have a backup of your system, you may be able to find a System Preferences copy there. Do you by any chance maintain a Time Machine backup?

If you do NOT have a backup and your do not have access to another Mac with Mac OS X version 10.5.8, then you would need to use other methods.

If you got your Mac new, then you should have also received a "Gray" DVD which contained a copy of Mac OS X that came with your Mac.

If you upgraded your Mac from a previous Mac OS X version using a retail copy of Mac OS X 10.5, then you would use that DVD.

If you purchased a used Mac, and the previous owner did not give you the original "Gray" DVD that came with the Mac, or if you cannot find your "Gray" DVD, it is possible to call Apple and ask for replacement installation DVDs for your Mac. You would give them the information from the "Get More Info"

Model Name: iMac

Model Identifier: iMac7,1

Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo

Processor Speed: 2.8 GHz

They will charge you a shipping and handling fee.

You could also try to purchanse a Mac OS X 10.5 retail DVD from some place like eBay, however, if you do that you DO NOT want to get the "Gray" DVD as "Gray" DVDs ONLY work for specific Mac makes and models. The chances of getting a "Gray" DVD that works with your specific iMac is low, so you would not want the "Gray" disks from a source such as eBay.

Do you have an Apple Store near by. You might give them a call, and ask if they can help you. If they say yes, you would most likely need to take your iMac into the Apple Store Genius Bar, but in theory they might have copies of Mac OS X 10.5, but call first, as lugging an iMac around is a lot of work if they cannot help you.
