SCX-4300 No Scan

I recently upgraded my system to version 10.7.3 and since then my Samsung SCX-4300 printer will not scan any documents. Does anyone know of a solution?

Same Problem here (after installing 10.7.3 and samsung printer software 2.3 via system update). I restored "Samsung Scanner.app" in /Library/Image Capture/Devices from a time machine backup i run before doing the updates (if you tried scanning you can´t replace the app because it´s in use. Then do a restart before restoring). Now my scx-4500 scans again. Let´s wait for samsung printer update 2.3.1 ...

Samsung is the only one responsible for their scanners. Apple gives the code to all developers on http://developer.apple.com/ to use. If they choose not to update it, that's the developer's responsibility. Check with Samsung. If they want to point the finger back at Apple, tell them Canon MX700 scanners work without issue in Lion, and have worked since Tiger. They should learn how to code using standards set by Apple.

Mazomat,

Your fix worked. Bless you.

And as for "a brody" - my Samsung SCX-4500 scanner worked - up through and including OSX 10.7.3 - it was only until the APPLE Samsung 2.3 printer update that it stopped scanning. And after reinstalling the older Samsung scanner.app which mazomat recommends, and which I had archived, it works fine again with 10.7.3 - so where is the problem?

Samsung seems to code fine, including Windows and Linux machines, with my scanner.

I'm not finger-pointing, you are. I am both an Apple customer and a Samsung customer. Samsung did not ask me to upgrade my scanner into a brick. There is no such update on their pages. Perhaps the problem lies with Samsung, I don't know; but as a customer, it was Apple who made this problem with my scanner. So maybe YOU should talk to them?

Right, but you are the one who blindly trusts Software Update to always do it. I never do. I've learned to wait until I hear from others before installing anything new, and most importantly, I backup my data before installing anything. That's the number one rule of computing. Turn off Software Update from Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Software Update by unchecking Check for Software Updates "Some time period." That way, you only get news about them from Apple menu -> Software Update if you have reason to update, and not at random. Push updates often push you at the wrong time, and you should never depend on them. Caveat Emptor. See my FAQ* on backing up: http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html

If you are doing it, and have proven that the update makes your scanner no longer usable, you should tell Samsung the update came from

http://support.apple.com/kb/DL905

and it needs to be removed until the reason for the borking can be found. Obviously no one has done so in the last 12 days. So since you are so certain Apple is providing a bad update, you need to inform Samsung.
