i need to download 10.7.0 (10.7.2 max), where does Apple keep earlier versions of OS?

i foolishly updated my MacPro and laptop to 10.7.3, but then discovered that it messed up some of my Pro apps like Nikon Capture NX2, which is only supposed to work on 10.7.2

i have been trying to find anyway to go back, and was informed that i had to erase and start from the OS that came with my mac

so i went back to 10.6.4, and have now updated to 10.6.8

then went to the App Store in order to update to 10.7.0, which i had already bought

but the App Store only offers me 10.7.3, and no earlier versions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

where can i get 10.7.0?

(i have the combo update which is available on the downloads of Apple website, but this is obviously no good without the base 10.7 already installed)

this appears to be a problem that Apple has created by not selling OS on discs anymore

HELP!!!!

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8), 12Gb 1333MHz DDR3 ram, ATI Radeon HD 5870 video card

Don't be a wise guy. (He was holding it wrong.) Seriously, why did you not just use Lion Restore (free) describeed here. And you use it with Apple servers not Time Machine. At least you have a piece of history and in form of a thumb drive... how cool is that. Oh... macs do just work, as long as we don't yell at it and neglect it. Be nice to your machine... and if be buy the 64 bit application (when available). Also don't forget to hold it correctly.

true. I guess my question was more for the original poster. Although i have tried Lion Recover just for fun and to fix the little glitches I might have caused my self and was rather very impressed both with it and the Recoovery Disk Assistant. I can not remember anything ever being like that on any type of platform. (sure beats having recovery disks), and Time Machine is great too.... but i am really impressed with the Lion Recovery.

i did try Lion Recovery and it toook me straight to 10.7.3

that was the very first thing i did way before i came on this forum to ask for help

and it did not offer me options of how to restore or to what version

in fact it was quite an odd experience which seemed to just do tings it's way, irrespective of what i needed to do

i did not want to have to buy the USB stick, which is why i went ot a genius at an Apple Store right after speaking to Nikon (both on their Pro telephone line and at a tutorial the following day)

it used to be the case that Apple kept all sorts of OS installers on their servers, but not anymore, they are now limited - and the App Store (from where i got the initial version of 10.7) is just latest version

as i have said thius would appear to mean that TimeMachine would certainly be the easiest and possibly the only sane way to reverting back to an incremental earlier version of the OS

Right for the APP STORE. It has been like that in the US for a week or more but the Lion Recovery system was still on 10.7.2.

Whether it is now I don't know. But as I said they are 2 completely different downloads. One when you go to the store and one when you use the built in recovery system.

I see what you mean now. Sorry, didn't realize they were downloaded from different places. Just thought with the internet connection necessary it was the same. Apologies again. Learn something every day with things in the computer world moving so fast.

No problem Pete.

You are not the only one that makes that mistake or assumes that if one place has the newest that all places (download servers) has the newest version.

I found this out because I installed the Update and didn't care for it so I reloaded a backup of the .2 version. I then went to the recovery system to get the complete download thinking it was the newest version so I could do a parallel install on a external to check out the real differences. When I got done with the 1 hour download and installed it on a external drive it was 10.7.2 not the .3 version. Even though the App Store had the .3 version as the only download.

Hi Pete

So what would it take to get you to put that 10.7.0 that you have squirled away onto a bootable thumb drive that I could use to install 10.7.0 on my mac? Avid Media Composer isn't operating on 10.7.3 only 10.7.2 and that's all I can get from Apple. Tech support there suggested I find someone like you who has 10.7.0 becasue they don't have it available anywhere anymore.

you can reach me direct at samsmall at ptd.net or (973) 271 0788

thanks

I am using Lion 10.7.3 and Nikon Capture NX 2.3.0 works ok.

You might be better off using Lion 10.7.3 and fixing the problems with your PRO apps.

What problem are you having with Nikon Capture NX 2.3.0?

I am having a similar problem with NX 2 under 10.7.3. I am currently running NX 2 2.2.5 but 2.3.0 refuses to install giving the error message "Current Operating System is Below Minimum Requirement. Capture NX 2 does not support this volume format."
