No Service / Searching iPhone 4

Hi,

I have an iPhone 4 which I got as a gift and it was updated to 5.0.1 when I first got it. The problem is that it keeps going to No service/searching whenever I leave it idle, but I've noticed that if I keep using the network e.g. calling or texting, it rarely ever loses signal and if I reboot it, it starts getting full signal again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem a few months after I bought an iPhone 4 about a year ago. I was at my wit's end, change the sim a couple of time (cost me money) but it still persists. Then suddenly is got OK... until today, when it started again.

What I do is I switch off 3g, and data and shut the phone down for 5 minutes. And, that seems to work. But, when I turn the 3g back on, it relapse to no service again....

What ****** me off is that, the is no response from Apple on this. It is a real issue... but, they don't seem to care.

Should've got me an adroid phone.... :-P

Hello,

I have this issue suddenly pop up after using the iphone 4 for almost 18 months. Went thru internet for various solutions like turning off location services, etc., which didn't fix the problem. I have ios 7.1.0 for the last few months. What happened in my case was, I have left "Cellular Data" option ON for few days after recently upgrading my data plan. Earlier, I used to turn on "Cellular Data" whenever I need and then would turn it off. Now, when I turned it OFF (both cellular data and 3G options), the problem went away. When I turned it back on, the problem didn't seem to occur. So, if you leave the Cellular Data option ON all the time, something else is triggering the phone to get into this issue (in my case, I tried enabling mail accounts unsuccessfully and copying photos from iphone to my laptop thru file viewer (not iTunes App) ). Even rebooting the phone (with Cellular Data option ON) didn't help. Hope, Apple comes up with FAQs and offers solutions that users have presented so that we don't waste time with trial and error. Hello Apple!!

Hope this helps!

Ditty.
