Trackpad going insane and clicking on everything

My trackpad won't stay in one spot. It keeps moving around the screen even if I'm not touching it. I could be standing 5 feet back from my computer and it would still be clicking on everything and spazzing all over the screen. Yes, I've tried cleaning it. Yes, I've restarted my computer multiple times. Yes, everything is up to date. This is super frustrating since I have things I need to type for class and I can't use my computer for more than 5 minutes without my trackpad randomly trying to click on everything, making it impossible to type. Do I just need to bring this into the apple store? Is it a lost cause?

There is a screw underneath the trackpad to (re)adjust the sensitivity. You have to open up the MacBook, of course.

Worked really well for me. Had the same annoying issues before, was almost about to throw the whole device from my balcony.

When put the Keyboard in an upright angle (90 degrees), the trackpad worked fine, though. That gave a hint to some mechanical problem already.
