iTunes Match playing the wrong song

I recently purchased iTunes match and up until now it has worked fine. However, I just tried to play Use Somebody by Kings Of Leon on my iphone and instead of playing that song it is playing Something's Got To Give by The Beastie Boys.

The iPhone says it is playing Kings Of Leon and shows the Kings Of Leon artwork so it's just the audio that's not right. I tried playing it on my computer and there were no problems until i deleted it and tried playing it in the cloud. Same problem, Beastie Boys. So I put the original file back into iTunes and matched it again. Still the problem persists in the cloud. I presume Match has matched it incorrectly.

Has anyone else had this issue and does anyone know how to resolve it? I have a lot of music so am not sure if the problem will happen with any other tracks I have not yet listened to from the cloud. It could be quite annoying if it keeps happening.

Thanks for your help

Hello, I have a similar problem: sometimes iTunes Match matches another version of the song. For example, I ripped my CD Brothers in Arms (Remastered) of Dire Straits and despite iTunes has the album, iTunes Match matches some tracks from another album, for examples "Money for nothing" of Brothers in arms (remastered) is matched with "Money for nothing" of the compilation "Sultans of Swing - The very best..." which is another version!!! This happens quite often.

The possible solutions are two: force iTunes Match to match the right song version/album or force iTunes Match to upload the right version from my Mac, but I don't know how to do that. Can you help me or do have another solution? (the solution above doesn't work for me, iOS device and Apple TV are still playing the bad matched version song).

thanks

This is what helped me, and I don't have iTunes Match, I have Apple Music. I was having the same problems of wrong songs playing on my iPhone but yet the correct song would play on my Mac. Here's how I fixed it without having to delete anything:

1) Turn off "Show Apple Music" in Settings/Music

2) Turn off "iCloud Music Library" in Settings/Music

3) Turn them both back on and BOOM, it plays the correct songs.

Christopher,

NO WAY that works for me, just to let you and everyone else know. As long as Apple continues to employ its outdated song matching algorithm, rampant mismatching will happen to me and everyone who desires to consolidate audio collection with Apple Music and stream on demand from the supporting Cloud Library. Apple simply must change to a song matching algorithm like Amazon Music uses, which analyzes the audio itself to determine an accurate match in its database or make the audio upload if no match is available. Until then, as an Apple Music subscriber, I'm not getting full benefits, since Apple cannot be relied on to handle my personal audio collection accurately.

I have the same issue with Use Somebody by Kings of Leon - instead some other song I have not heard of before plays in its place (I assume the one mentioned earlier in this thread). I have tried the suggestions by keepers1221 and Christopherjacobs but these have not resolved the issue for me. Anyone know how we can get this raised with Apple - is there an email address? This obviously affects a lot of people and seems to be this particular track. I would hope they would want to have some kind of fix.
