On the browser's last page of website, cannot engage the index ...

I have 3 other websites using the same format of the INDEX displayed on top of each webpage. The current one I have constructed was all right until I added 2 more pages [total of 27 pages; another site has 38 pages with no problems engaging the Index when on the last page].

Upon checking the 'publish site' on the server [Safari] before uploading, when I was on the last page, I could not engage other pages on the Index. I noted this occurring on a friend's computer [MacBook using Safari] — after the website had been uploaded — thinking it their problem. However, when the same inaccessiblity to engage the Index occurred on my browser, I am concerned. It means I have to use the 'Back' command to re-engage the Index.

Is this specific to this new published website as 'server' related, or is it an iWeb glitch?

Rather strange when I have not encountered the problem on my other published websites until I was at my friend's computer's Safari browser [Snow Leopard] and today on my own Safari browser [Lion] for this new website.

HELP!

Okay, just finished watching your excellent 'how-to' video. Wish I had seen that in the beginning because have somewhat designed my pages using some of what you have utilized. However, what is very appealing to me is the removal of top page Index and using hyperlinks. I could figure this out on my own and after seeing other's tutorials, became confused.

Okay, to fess up, I am a novice and low-ended technically when it comes to making my own navigation. I lack the confidence. Unless I had someone sitting with me as I venture into this unknown territory, I lack the verve to do so on my own.

So, what to do at my end to resolve the matter - I am perplexed abour using the suggestion below. Apologies, for ignorance prevailing when I ask these questions.

1. I engage a second site, that I can understand.

2. Do I have topurchase another domain URL with the ISP?

2 websites in iWeb would be similar to 2 folders on your harddrive "computer"

You would end up with something like "http://lanark-baldersonpastoralcharge.ca/Welcome%21.html" for part of the site and "http://lanark-baldersonpastoralcharge.ca/site2/Acknowledgements.html" for the other.

No, the second site would just be another folder on ther server "ISP" example: www.YourWebSite.org/MensMinistry/yourpage.html the "/MensMinistry/" is another folder / website

Okay, this is also very helpful and will work on it later when I get home from the study group. I have tried to lengthen and widen pages, but somehow did not see it happening. However, with your guidance, I shall try it.

the green horizontal bars are your problem:

one is in header_layer, the other is in body_layer... header_layer and body_layer have high z-index that nav_layer.

remove them will solve your problem, note the hilited link after the green bars were removed.

That was it! I cannot believe those 2 bars were the culprits.

I was going into a state of frenzy over this crazy occurrence.

Ignorance prevailed but now I feel that a good lesson was learned.

Hey! Jeff! Changing the length of the Page Layout was a great help. I was using Page section on Inspector instead of Layout. No wonder I was not getting the results you had suggested.

Many thanks for all the other suggestions you came up with that I will use in the future. Loved your video. Excellenting and professionally made. Should I ever construct another website, I will go with your ideas. Actually, some of them I have used before knowing what I was doing but after seeing your video I have courage to be more venturesome. Also, I liked use of buttons but observed that works best when there are not too many pages.

With a lot of thanks to you, Jeff, for all your support, patience and understanding of elderly people like me who think they can work at low-ended levels constructing a web page. Your ideas will be kept and used when I have launched this project and let it run it's course. Then, I will consider implementing many of your excellent techniques. One I just implemented was using the 'movie' welcome page that has the movie insert built-in to mount a gif that would not play. VOILA! By doing so, it plays! Would not have known this technique had I not watched your video. Good of you to share your knowledge that obviously shows your talent, skill and expertise in web design that benefits us low-enders.

If you want to link two separate sites together using the navbar created by iWeb do the following:

1 - on Site A create a totally blank page and name it for the link to Site B.

2 - add an HTML snippet to the blank page with the following script:

<script type="text/javascript">

parent.window.location = "URL TO SITE B"; </script>

Of course Site B must be published to the server so its URL can be obtained.

When the Site B link in the navbar of Site A is selected the visitor will be immediately redirected to Site B.

Now do the same in Site B with a redirect page to Site A.

Many thanks for the valuable information. It has worked out that I do not need to create a second site after all because of a simple design error on my part using a border line on the pages upper portion. This affected the linkage to other sites.

However, I am archiving the information you so kindly sent in case I have to create a second site. However, keeping in mind, as a low-ended designer, I cannot go beyond my brain capacity levels.

Again, so appreciate your taking the time to address this issue. It's a learning experience and so appreciate you offering most generously your expertise and knowledge. No doubt others reading the discussino will value having this information.
