Iphone keeps asking me for my AppleID password

My iPhone keeps asking me for my AppleID password.

This usually happens after I wake the phone and/or start any app. The problem is intermittent (and too consistant that it has become very annoying!)

This started happening about 1.5 weeks ago.

I called into Apple support and they don't have any idea of how to fix it other than me backing up my phone and performing a brand new restore. I haven't done that yet as it seems to be a brute force approach (and lengthy timewise at that).

From what I can remember, I purchased a song from my iPhone using the iTunes store. Ever since then, it has started asking me for my password for my AppleID. If I enter the password and click OK, everything is fine, but after a few moments, it will ask me for my password again. Also, if I hit Cancel, everything is fine, and again, it will ask me for my AppleID password.

I have the lastest build/version of iOS 5.0.1 installed. The password entered IS correct. I am able to purchase music/movies/tv shows from my AppleTV with the same AppleID and password. I have verified on my iPhone under settings, Itunes that my AppleID is correct as well.

Anybody else getting this and/or have a solution?

I found the answer to the really annoying problem of my iPad repeatedly asking for my AppleID password as a result of Chuck's suggestion in this thread - thank you! In my case the solution was a little more subtle. It turns out I had bought an album through my iPad which included a 'Digital Booklet'. Of course neither iPads or iPhones can cope with these so it stuck as pending download which was invisible to the iOS devices.

The answer was to go into iTunes store through a Mac (or PC!) and into the account details. At the top of the account screen was a 'download' button for the undownloaded Digital Booklet and once I did that, no more nagging requests for my password.

Sweet relief!

Thanks to all who have helped on this thread.

Thanks to everyone for their help on this. For me the problem was not just that it kept asking for my apple password but that it was asking for it against an old email address without giving the option of changing that email address. It started on the ipad and then spread like a mystical airborne virus to the iphone! For me the answer was facetime - as i never use it the old email address was still in there but with no password. I've changed it to the new email and put the password in and voila! Fixed. If it comes back to haunt me I'll let you know... and if I havent smashed either item to smithereens as a result I'll post the fix I find 🙂

I was having this problem too, but instead of going through the hassle to check if something was downloading or not, I did the following steps.

Tap Settings

Scroll to iTunes & App Stores and select it

Tap on your Apple ID: (your email)

Tap View Apple ID

Tap your Apple ID

Confirm everything is correct and hit Done

Everything should be back to normal after that. The problem I was having was that it would be popping up, but it was my old account information.

I hope this helped!

Also, if there is a billing issues, it won't stop asking for the stupid password either. It's REALLY annoying Because on ios7 you CAN'T delete your account info. It's a pending download...and my credit card is my visa debit card attached to my bank account. So right now there isn't enough money in the bank account to deal with it so it's constantly asking me for the password. But...every since I downloaded the NEW ios7 it's CONSTANTLY asking me for my stupid password even when I am trying to load a game that I play.

I did notice that I made an instore purchse for my game Valor and it didnt download and it keeps asking for me password. But that purchase has gone through. Np. Its just annoying. And I cant turn it off from asking that.
