I'm sorry, but the original setup of your voicemail is done by the carrier. Also, the next hint that it is a carrier problem is the fact that you cannot access your voicemail directly from the phone using the *86. That is done striclty through the carrier and has nothing at all to do with Apple. I have not read anywhere regarding Apple doing any type of regional migration. The last hint it has to do with the carrier is the fact that callers are getting a message that your mailbox does not exist. Again, the carrier is the one that does the original setup of your voicemail box. It has to exist on their system before you can access it either through *86 or via Visual Voicemail. I suggest you try Verizon support again on this issue. The people at the Verizon store are not technical support.

I would like to say the reason that Apple is pointing back to your carriers is because even if Apple wanted to fix it, they can't. Apple would not have access to the servers that belong to the carriers that control your voicemail. The phone is just an interface that accesses that server. The only thing Apple could help with if your phone app wasn't opening/functioning. Your carriers are to blame, it wouldn't matter what phone you had, it would still have the same problem.
