As you will notice I was merely showing empathy to Dizzy.
If there is one company which is capable of pushing the boundaries and be a distruptor to the status quo... history shows it should be Apple.
I'll toss my vote in with you and others, above, that a solution should be found -- just in general for combining multiple ID's of the same person (but I'd go further and argue for the same family unit, esp. as many posts have detailed the those ID's of a parent who set something up for a child or children.
I'd also second your sentiment that Apple should (and can!) be that company who finds a working solution 🙂 A solution that is fair and equitable and reasonable.
edit: looks like the last post or two were deleted from this thread -- as posts have been deleted from this thread since I've been following it a year or two ago! I'd just generally say that rather than take a dim view of some of the responses, I generally just assume that people mean well and that those responses that we generally find less-than-sympathetic or even, sometimes, delilberately calluous, just aren't translating given the medium of electronic communication; and moreover, since the language of this board is English, you're not always going to find those who, in this era of global English, necessarily write with the sort of nuance that you'd hope for or expect That is, that the person in question isn't being deliberately "rude" (though that may well be the reason), so much as there's only so much meaning that can be conveyed in a quickly typed out response where English mightn't be the native language but is certainly the lingua franca.
