Quite simple really. Just open up iTunes and from the 'Store' menu (in the top menu bar), choose "View My Account" (sign in with correct account if neccesary). It will load your account management page, from there you will see the section "iTunes in the Cloud". Choose 'Manage Devices' on the right and then remove the unneccesary devices you no longer use. If you can't tell which devices they are based on the name, just remove them all and then you can re-authorize them from the devices you do still use. I know this post is old but hope this helps anyone looking for an answer to this.

I believe the key word id "transfer". These apps were originally purchased and should not have to be re-purchased just because the Apple ID has changed. The assumption that there is no reason to have a different Apple ID is ridiculous. You are assuming that the general populous makes purchases and has a thinks in terms of expansion of product source through one ID... I don't know anyone that plans that far ahead! Most folks buy a device and it gets used by the family in various ways. Once they realize that their device... for example and iPad... is too popular with the rest of the family ... sharing becomes un-fun and painful. Apps pop up like popcorn and the owner of said device/iPad becomes frustrated with apps on the device that they don't want but are used by others/family. So...that owner/original Apple ID purchases another/second device/iPad for the . The apps that were used purchased using the original ID are tethered to that ID. How dumb is that? You promote buying products but limit app use to the Apple ID. Again... the key word is transfer..... that means it MOVES from one device to the next. What is the deal in not being able to do that? Also... would be much smarter to have the apps tethered to your email account. That way any device can be used to access the data/app. The Apple ID is a nightmare. I hate it. I should be able to dump apps that I don't want (but others that do) to another device without losing gameplay, progress, or my mind! It is simple... not like you don't have the IDs in the database... just fulfill a transfer request. I have done this with as many app devs as possible... the only ones that I cannot transfer data from are APPLE ID/GameCenter tethered. NUTS! BEWARE .... don't get apps that require APPLE IDs....

You have no understanding of Apple IDs or how to use an Apple product. Your ingnorance shows in this stupid post. It's better to remain quiet, then we won't know your ignorance.

Yes, you can do that. You sign into the iTunes app or the App Store app on the new device with your Apple ID, go to the Purchases list and download all of the content licensed to your Apple ID onto the new device. You have now successfully MOVED the content from one device to the next.

If we stop calling the Apps and call it Software, would that make more sense to you?

When you purchase a digital product or service, whether it is software, music, or a movie.

It is for your use alone.

You sign an agreement with each purchase, which no one reads, but simply put, you have use of a digital product. No permission to give away or sell is granted. In order for Apple to honor this agreement with artists and programmers, it restricts purchases to the Apple ID used to make the purchase.

You may move your purchases to your devices as you please, with your Apple ID

A new device doesn't mean loss of my purchases.

If my computer crashes, my iPad breaks or my iPod is lost or stolen, I can download my music, apps and other iTunes purchases to a new device.....

With my Apple ID.

If you have spent a lot of money on music and apps from iTunes, you will be very glad to know you can recover that content, with your Apple ID. After all you paid for the use.

That said...

Within a family, you can use one Apple ID and different iCloud accounts to share purchases, but sync to your device only your content. You can sign in and approve an update on another family members device to update an app purchased with your Apple ID.

When you buy something, it's yours. When you promote digital content, and try to give people reasons not to pirate, don't trick them with legal print.

I have a gift card from Japan, IN Japan, but I have a Norwegian account/apple ID. Of course with this stupid frickin' American "moneymoneymoneymoneyorIsueyou-because I had enough money to make a new law" mentality. I can't use the gift card (worth 60$!!!) with my account. So I have to make a Japanese account to use it. When I go back to Norway, I'd like to transfer whatever I buy to my Norwegian account to make life ALOT easier.. Of course that can't be done. I don't own anything, basically I just rent it!?

If big companies keep scr**ing me over, they have no right to tell me that I am supposed to "play fair" and support them. It's not about what is written in some bloody EULA, it's about common sense. As a musician I want people to have an easy time buying/owning a copy of music, but any company with enough money don't care about neither customers or artists..

Yes, this is an angry post. But no wonder people pirate, when it's easier to pirate than actually legally acquire something. People would actually like to buy things legally, but these kind of stupid rules/laws/EULA's makes it too hard!

  • The specific store or markets iTunes content is sold in is NOT Apple's decision, it is the publishers. Laws surrounding residuals as well as copyright protection can vary widely, so yes, these companies tend to place specific restrictions on how their product is sold.
  • When an iTunes gift card is purchases, it is purchased using a specific currency, as is ANY monetary instrument. Apple is not in the business of currency exchange. I don't blame them. It would be a losing proposition, violate some laws, and open itunes up for possible use in money laundering and other illegal activities.
  • You purchased store credit in a specific currency for a specific store. You may not like being bothered by a terms of use document of EULA, but you agreed to it (even if you didn't read it). So basically, yes, that is on you.

To add to James Ward4's reply,

I know the laws in Norway and Japan may be very different from the USA and other countries.

The App store sells Apps in the USA which can't be sold in other countries.

Facetime is not available in all countries.

Apple is not minting it's own currency. You should know a gift card for ANY business, will be usable in that country. MacDonalds, Starbucks, Kentucky Fried Chicken are 3 chains that have stores all over the world, and a gift card would not be transferable to another country.

That's just the way it is.

I have Apple products, but an Android phone. When an App I paid for that I use across platforms was upgraded and renamed, I got it free from Apple, but I had to pay again to get the upgraded App from Google Play. I complained to Google play and the developer of the App. In the end, I paid for the App again. In this case it was worth the $3.50 to keep the use of the App because I needed the cross platform ability. I wasn't happy about it, but I understood the rules and reason for them.

It may effect my purchases in the future - of Apps - not devices.

I like my Note 3 far more than the iPhone.

(I also have a Note 8.0 and an iPad mini. The much prefer the iPad Mini)

You're shooting off your mouth in ignorance and your prejudice & bigotry against United Statesonians is blatantly showing. If you qualify for an account in Japan you can change the region/country with which your account is associated. So instead of making a separate Apple ID and account in the Japanese iTunes/Mac App Store, you should just change your existing account. Then when you return to Norway you can change it back.

Rather than acting like the spoiled child, why don't you request help with your issue next time.I had a much higher opinion of Scandinavians until you came along.
