Movies in Cloud

Why aren't all of my movies (purchased through iTunes) available in the Cloud?

You may not be in the correct country (but I think you are if you're in Oregon).

I'm not in the UK.

If things are no longer available in iTunes they will not be available in the cloud.

If a movie is in itunes store but has changed commercially in some imperceptible way to youo or me you won't see it.

It's all in a state of flux and may improve.

It's all a little of each of the above - honest.

I too started to redo my digital copies (the ones that came with the blu ray combo packs). The interesting thing is I redid one and 3 movies that were not there before, suddenly where. I tried to redo Puss in Boots and it didn't show up, but one of my previous dreamwork's titles did show up. And some titles that iTunes no longer has are in there. When I try to re download some of the titles I purchased direct through iTunes, it wants me to repurchase them again. But others I bought from iTunes are there. So other than titles from Universal and Fox, I'm betting the others will show up in time, regardless if they are still available in iTunes or not.

After going through and finding what movies are not in the cloud and what movie studio they are from, to rule out if they are fox or universal movies. And then seeing which ones I have digital copy disks for, the only re downloads of these digital copies that did not work were, puss in boots, and Harry potter and the deathly hallows part 1, which, when I went to the website to re download it (since there was no physical digital copy disk) I was told that the code has already been redeemed and would not let me do it again (the code expiration date is march 13 2012).

So, to submit a new question to the fourm, do I need to subscribe to iTunes match to have those movies that I have downloaded either directly from iTunes or via digital copies, to show up in the cloud? Or is itunes match soley for music? Or do I just wait it out to see if the problem remedies itself in time?

Well, it gets even better...while searching for a movie to watch, I came across Remeber the Titans...and my two options were Rent HD or Buy HD...That's just feaking great, considering I already purchased it in HD! Actually, I have purchased this darn movie three times! Once on DVD (which I then ripped to iTunes), second on iTunes itself (to get legal), and third so I could own the HD version. And now it's not even in iCloud...yep, who's the sucker now?.... (that's rhetorical)....

Starting today I will no longer be purchasing DVD's. I personally think disc's days are numbered.

Technology experts are working on a movie storage system where YOU have physical possession of the movie.

This system stores the movie digitally on an optical disk system that will not be dependent upon a congested, complicated, and fragile network.

Because all of the data is stored only a few feet from your television, all the bottlenecks are removed. Performance and reliability are virtually flawless.

Further, the system will not utilize any form of security codes, authentications, or passwords. Once the optical disc is purchased it can be moved around freely at will, and can even be lent or given to friends and neighbors with zero hassles.

I have a problem and I don't know how to solve it.

As stoked as I am to movies in the iCloud, I am frustrated at Apple customer service.

I went through my movies that are not showing up in the iCloud, after excluding Universal and Fox movies, and excluding movies that are no longer in iTunes, and there are only 2 movies that should be there but are not. They are "Green Lantern" and "Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince".

Since these were purchased directly from iTunes and were not those digital copies that came in a DVD combo pack, I had to contact iTunes to see how I could download them again without purchasing them again.

I contacted iTunes via email and they were very prompt in replying to me. They wanted to know the movies titles that I needed to re-download along with their order numbers. I provided them with the detailed information they needed. The reply back was not what I expected. They said they would "add" to my iTunes download que every song, movie, and app that I ever purchased through iTunes. So now I have thousands of downloads that try to download every time I open iTunes on my computer and every time I turn on my iPad and or iPod touch.

I have contacted iTunes to quickly remove all those items from my download que, but I have not heard back from them and it has been over 8 hours since I emailed them as well as left a message on the voicemail of the customer service representative that is helping me. Is there a way I can remove them myself?

And why is it that customer service could not read my email correctly? It didn't seem that difficult to me, and no where in my email and replies did I ever mention that I was missing music or apps, it was only movies

Ok, that last part was a rant and I appologize.

I'm in the same boat as the writier of that article...and while this Cloud thing sounds like a good idea...I'm glad I have all of it on a hard drive...

I knew someone that transfered their extensive DVD collection to a media server (hard drive). Then they gave away, or threw away the DVDs.

The media server crashed and the backup failed. His entire collection of nearly 1000 DVDs was lost.

So, he went about repurchasing DVDs. Only to find out that a significant percentage of them were no longer available. They were not available on Netflix or iTunes either.

In my own collection, I have several movies that were censored later (after my purchase) for political correctness reasons. If these movies were stored on the cloud, only the PC censored versions would be available.

If my DVD player were to suddenly burst into flames, I would lose exactly one movie.

The cloud is a great idea, storing a movie on a hard drive is a great idea, but DVDs certainly have advantages in terms of reliability, ease-of-use, and portability.
