The answer should be "no," but I downloaded the 1080p version of the Brave trailer from iTunes... and it plays through my ATV 2.
I always thought that the limit was 720p. Is the ATV 2 downscaling? Or is something else going on?

I know for a fact that my ATV2 (purchased at time of release) would stutter and fail on any 1080p movies... UNTIL the update. Now it plays them perfectly! Yes, it's still outputing at 720p, but that's fine. I just want my movie library ready for when I buy 1080p capable hardware. They do look real nice on my new 13" retina too!
Can ATV2 play 1080p after the update?
