iOS 5 update issues "Network Connection could not be established"

I'm not sure if you have to turn off the firewall or not. I did just because Apple said that might be the issue. You could try it with the firewall still on though.

I am not sure what I am doing wong but tried this fix and still get the server connection error message..... any other suggestions

I have tried for days and finally switched my DNS to Google's Public DNS. I was very hesitant to do this since I am not a tech geek, but it worked wonderfully for me. I've deleted the Google DNS now that my update is complete, but I don't see any issues in keeping the Google DNS from what I've read online.

what happens if i don't delete the new DNS numbers?

Got unknown error 1602 when I did the instructions listed here. It downloaded through itunes but when it finished it gave me the error message. I use iPhone 3GS 5.0.1.
