iOS 5.1 Batterydrain issue/problem

Hello,

after having the feeling the Battery is sucked out by the new iOS, the problem is still there in 5.0.1.

And now in 5.1 its getting more worse. Even my girlfriend mentiond it.

So i am carefully asking the community: Are you experiencing the same batterydrain that was mentioned before, but now even worse than before?

iPhone 4S, iOS 5.1

my iphone 4s 100% charge 11 hours ago with 5.1 update install, still 99% remains after 30 min use, 10 hours and 30 mins standby condition. turned off icloud, location service and 3G but leave other applications ON. it seems my battery is very good and healthy right now, amazing good battery! before i use IOS 5.0.1, battery drained about 20% to 30% after 11 hours.

I have an iPhone 4. When I was using iOS 5.01 my battery would last all day even with hard use. Now with 5.1 in very light use it lasts no more than 4 hours. I notice that with 5.01 appls that used location services would turn off the Location search when they went into standby. Now, with 5.1 I have to manually kill the app or it will continue to run Location services and literally suck the battery dead in 2 hours. I have done a restore and this didn't help.

Similar trouble. I've a 3GS that on 5.0.1 lasted me for 2+ days usage for me (mix of WiFi at home, WiFi off at work, mail on manual, notifications off). Same usage after 5.1? Battery drain is severe - lost 71% charge in 3 1/2 hours, consistent with many above.

Apple - this problem is too consistently reported to be inconsequential. Your release notes quoted "battery life improvments". Clearly this isn't the experience for many.

I did the restore on my iphone4 and the battery will last all day. However, I am a lite user. I think what really bugs me is that I bought a great phone with a battery that would last a week.

Apple has unintentionally, I hope, sabotaged their own product. I hope that they fix the problem before the iphone5 comes out.

Just venting

I've found out something what causes the battery to drain:

It's iCloud!

Take a look at the mobile data traffic NOT using a WLAN-Connection. It adds approx. 1 kB of data traffic per second. This drastically reduces battery-life.

Disabling the services (Mail, Calendar.. find my iPhone etc) in iCloud doesn't help!

You have to delete the Account to stop this!!!

Remember to disable WLAN and enable "mobile Data" to cause data traffic to use 3G that you can monitor under "Mobile Usage" / "Cellular usage".

You have to reset the counter to see the kb increase ( you can't see additional kBs if you have already a MB loaded) and move back an forth in the menu to update the screen.
