Volume is much lower after upgrading my 4s to IOS 5.1???

Hi, had the same problem. Try this - open a application such as pbs and play a video on your iphone - while the video is playing increase the volume using the volume buttons on the phone. Go back and try the sounds for say text, email etc. The volume should be high.

Unfortunatly that's already been discussed and isn't the fix we need from Apple. My new Lumia 920 is very loud, haven't missed one work call since I got it.

For comparison you probably used some model apple products. But my iPhone 4S was made in China. As 25 million others as well. Try un-checking 'change with buttons' on ringer and alerts in settings, sounds. That worked for me.

Ironically, as I was looking at this discussion thread while listening to my Beats and trying to figure out why the volume was so low, I received a phone call. I was able to answer the call while wearing my headphones and could hear just fine. The funny thing is, after the call ended and my music continued to play, the volume was significantly louder. So perhaps until apple finds a solution to this issue, take a phone call before listening to your music. I'm being facetious but it did work.
