iPad 3 shipping already

I got the shipping notification on March 9th, and it gave me a tracking number, but when I go to track it, FedEx has no information on the shipment. I just tried it now (two days later, mind you) and the tracking number still doesn't work. What's the deal?

My tracking showed up on the 9th, too. Shows package pickup in Tennessee and delivery scheduled for the 16th, but no other details. I'm not worried about it, though, and I think the OP on this thread should either contact Apple or FedEx if he's worried. I doubt anyone in this forum is going to clear things up beyond just speculating about why his tracking number isn't active, so seems a waste of time to keep posting about it.

Just an follow up, FeD-Ex shows information mine is coming from NASHVILLE, TN. I think it will take day or two once you get email from Apple store that your order is shipped to get on Fed-Ex tracking.

I ordered mine on the 8th at noon. I received a shipping notification this morning (11th) at 7 am. It's slated for delivery on the 16th as promised. When I go to track on FedEx it doesn't show up yet... I don't know where mine is coming from, but in the past my Apple items have come from Nashville, TN (I'm in Illinois). The shipping is usually about 2-3 days standard. That means if it goes out tomorrow (12th) it should be here at least by Wednesday (14th)... others have said that FedEx won't release them until the 16th, but I remember when a previous iPhone and iPad were preordered, some received them a day or two early. So who knows what will happen. I hope mine gets here soon though... I already sold my iPad 2 and I'm jonesing!

What the ****? I ordered mine on 3/7 within 1 1/2 hours of the end of the keynote and i still havent gotten my shipping notice! Now people who ordered on 3/8 have gotten theirs?

Ordered mine on the 7th by 2pm - Got a shipping notice on the 9th but it took 3 days before showing up in FedEx tracking. Mine also is coming from Nashville to Florida (that usually takes 2 days) but most likely it will be held back until Friday delivery...(Unless there is a high volume of iPad deliveries in my area... then they might, just might deliver it a day early) They told me at my local Apple Store that there have been many people in the past get their orders a day or 2 early... but don't necessarily get your hopes up.

NOTE: When you check your tracking number, you may have to click it 2 or 3 times before it goes through. I had to resubmit it twice before it actually gave me the basic info.

THE BOTTOM LINE IS....APPLE is selling them like HOT CAKES & it is driving the shippers crazy tryin to keep up. IT NOW SAYS ON THE APPLE SITE..if you order today......"Shipping is by March 19th...not delivery". That just means they are reaching their limit on the NEW iPad's initial supply.THE NEW IPAD IS A HIT!!!!!!!!

Mine is shipping via UPS and has an expected delivery date of March 16th, but I do expect it a day earilier.

I completed my order at 1:06pm pst on 3/7/12 and it's now 3/11/12 and I haven't received my shipping notice. The apple website says processing but there is NO tracking number yet. People who have ordered a day later than I did already have a tracking number. What's the deal? Is there anyone else out there who ordered right away on 3/7 and hasn't gotten their tracking number or shipping confirmation yet?

I am talked into it. Ordered white 32G +4G white yesterday, Saturday. Shipping March 19 and delivery the 23rd. Things are backing up a bit. Does anybody have any trouble (dirt/smearing/scratching) using a finger on the screen rather than having to carry around a stylus?

I ordered as soon as the store opened up. My cover shipped from TN and has already arrived.

The iPad (32G, LTE) shipped from Shenzhen China by UPS and is scheduled for the 16th. Currently it's sitting in KY. So these seem to coming from a variety of places and means.

That's OK. I ordered mine on 3/7 also and its status is still "preparing to ship." I read that some of them are already in the US and so aren't shipping from China. I wouldn't be too worried, though. I didn't think my iPad2 had a snowball's chance of arriving on time last year, but it did. I was just grateful I didn't have to stand in line to get it.

Got my "Shiped" on the 11. But mine is listed from ONTARIO, CA. And only about 80 miles from me up the coast.

Was wondering if any others have the pickup from Ontario?

Mine is coming from Middletown, PA-a little more than an hour and a half from me.

Sorry... that *****. I'm sure you will get it on or before the expected date despite your lack of shipping notification. I just rechecked mine... it is indeed located in Nashville... expected date is still 3/16/12, but I don't see how they can keep it from me when it's only a couple of hours away. lol
